DJ Shadow Live
To go or not to go to one of his upcoming shows?
That is the debate going on between a good friend and I these past few days. Shadow is going to be playing in Portland later this month. I wasn't too fond of his last album but feel I may be missing out on a good opportunity to see him live. Anyone seen him live on this recent tour? |

Re: DJ Shadow Live
that is what I'm worried about. I'm on the cusp of buying tickets for a friend and myself, esp. on the basis of his last tour's shows. But I'm worried about the one or two reviews I've come across where the writer in question slammed Shadow for his performance that was under an hour and 30 minutes which is about half of what his show was on the last tour in support of The Private Press and documented on the DVD of In Tune and on Time.
At this juncture, I feel it best to just buy tickets and leave it at that. I was just wondering what other dirts experiences had been like if they'd seem him in the past few months/past year. |

Re: DJ Shadow Live
I saw him at Lowlands Festival in Holland. I arrived quite late at the show but what I heard was quite good. There were some tracks that featured some crappy singer, but when he left he played mash ups of his own tracks. Like "Rabbit In Your Headlights" (by Unkle) with Celestrial Rhyme. It was pretty cool. The crowd didn't really go off though.

Re: DJ Shadow Live
The never do, Leon, at Shadow shows. They're all too goddamn serious or newbies.
If Shadow is in one's local area(<50 mile drive) it's daft to miss him though.

What I saw was basically a complete duplicate of his DVD, with a few more ghetto-white-boy catcalls that only serve to kind of further kill his legacy for me... i bet its expensive skip. |
