your favorite "best of" disks
so! llet's hear it. what is everyone's favorite best of or greatest hits set. i guess there should be a 2 disk maximum cause you can have like a box set of the persons whole catalog, but really i think that a shorter one can be better too... also, no live albumns, as that's a different catagory

anyhow, i'll say mines is bob marley - legend

?

Re: your favorite "best of" disks
Some "Best-Of's" that i enjoy:

Underworld: "1992-2002" (of course! )
Orbital: "Work 1989-2002"
The Chemical Brothers: "Singles 1993-2003
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers: "Greatest Hits" (don't laugh. they rock!)
Peter Gabriel: "Hit"
Fluke: "Progressive History X"
Green Day: "International Superhits"
The Cure: "Greatest Hits"

um, i guess that's a start. i've plenty of others, but i don't like them as much!

Re: your favorite "best of" disks
im not really a great fan of best of's. one way i've seen it put (probably on an earlier version of these forums)

listening to a best of is a bit like playing a computer game with all the cheats on
that being said, my faves are

super furry animals - songbook
bob marley and the wailers - legend
blur - best of

i've also got best of's by pink floyd, orbital, new order, joy division, marvin gaye and a few others probably, but ones above are my favourites

Re: your favorite "best of" disks
• New Order - Substance
• Primal Scream - Dirty Hits (x2cd version)
• Massive Attack - Collected (x2cd version)
• Solesides Greatest Bumps
• Time Machine: A Mo'Wax Retrospective Mix
• Depeche Mode - the Singles 86->98
• the Chemical Brothers - the Singles
• the Prodigy - Their Law (x2cd version)

...and they've never made a decent 'greatest hits' for Bowie, but that "Sound & Vision" Boxset was pretty nice

That's a good one, for the 80's hits. I have "Best Of" from '95, and though i like the tracks from Republic, can't really get behind that greatest hits collection.

Shocking! Aren't there about 5 Bowie Best Of's?!
i suppose though that once you have as many hits over a career spanning close to 40 years, it'd be hard to please everyone with the inclusions on a 1 or 2 Disc collection. Box set city!

Re: your favorite "best of" disks
prodigy - their law
pink floyd - echoes

simply because i'm not huge fans of their entire albums and this makes it ridiculously convenient.
i lost all of my prodigy albums awhile back and now i dont have to buy them back. i just buy that one thing for $13 (with the bonus disk) and i'm okay.
