usb to midi?
How good/bad are the USB-to-midi connectors? It seems too good to be true.

Re: usb to midi?
Never tried a USB MIDI interface myself, I have 2 MIDI INs and OUTs on my PCMCIA soundcard. However, I think for just sending and receiving MIDI data, the USB port is more than adequate.

Re: usb to midi?
MIDI is such an old protocol that there cant be THAT much data sent down it. Certainly not enough to overpower a USB socket. Not even USB 1.1. USB 2.0 would be overkill. I don't see how you can be so concerned

Re: usb to midi?
Yeah, seriously, I've never encountered the slightest problem. Not a concern. A lot of audio interfaces are coming with a MIDI out, so consider your setup, and if you don't have much gear, you might be able to daisy-chain your MIDI devices and use one interface for both.
