Tron Legacy - The Soundtrack
It's leaked. So far so good. Nothing that screams Daft Punk after 5 tracks or so and the majority of the tracks are between 1:30 and 2:30 in length.

Re: Tron Legacy - The Soundtrack
Just heard it. Sounds like real standard soundtrack fare to me. Besides one track ("Derezzed") you'd never know that Daft Punk did it. I'm kind of torn as to whether or not to see this movie. I really, really wish Disney was not backing it and I know the story cannot possibly be any good but it looks like it might be worth it for the visuals alone. Hell, I even enjoyed Speed Racer despite that being terrible from every other measure. Who knows.

Re: Tron Legacy - The Soundtrack
99% of it is your typical soundtrack stuff.

Not even Pitchfork seems to like it. Weird, because they were hyping this album nonstop for the last three months.

Re: Tron Legacy - The Soundtrack
they didn't expect the majority of the songs to be crap...fantastic for the film.
bad for the dance floor.
too much hooplah regarding the Daft Punk name.
they haven't done much at all.
but they are getting paid...huge.

Re: Tron Legacy - The Soundtrack
as a soundtrack - I still think it's quite good, and there are like 4-5 very "Daft Punk sounding" songs, like somewhere between Human After All and Discovery.

And I'm kind of confused about people complaining that it "isn't Daft Punk-y enough" ...I mean, there were quite a few previews/leaks of the tracks, and they were indicative of the final release

(although - I do miss that one song labeled as "The Crash" ...or was that a *fake* DP song?)

but you know what... this seems to be the pattern with every Daft Punk release - everyone hates it at first, then a period of time goes by and it gets reevaluated and "everyone" claims they always liked it

Re: Tron Legacy - The Soundtrack
They should have released this under their real names or a different band name.

Well obviously there's money to be made and the Daft Punk name is still huge, I'm sure this is going to sell a ton from people still nostaglic for Discovery. Yeah it's silly to be disappointed that this is just regular soundtrack stuff but given the way outlets like Pitchfork have hyped this, isn't it natural?? I mean didn't U2 do a similar thing with the Passengers album that got people up in arms?
