I hardly think that Spitfire is a classic and after listening to it, it hasnt improved at all. Goes to show, you cant polish a turd.

Poison sounds more interesting. The breakdown in the middle is nice and the extra keyboards and harder cymbols make it sound much more in your face.

Voodoo People starts off with a great beefed up riff guitar slightly altered, which rather than finishing at the start merge more into the song until the main melody and breakdown comes in. Nice feedback overlaid then its on with the beats and more guitars. Middle breakdown adds some more lyrics and feedback before the main melody kicks in and the second half continues in much the same way as the first. The jury is still out on whether theres TOO MUCH going on but overall its not a bad rendition, certainly no worse than the original.

Firestarter / Smack My Bitch Up really adds some banging drums and feedback at the start. Actually, this sounds better and adds some life into Firestarter which was starting to sound very tired. SMBU hasnt really been tinkered with much to be honest.

Just my $0.02. A welcome update but nothing radical.

this is what the industrial rock like shit should sound like.
nice hard shit, and if they came around, i would see them.

it also sounds like liam is now doing more with his dual powerbook + keyboards setup. some of the tour footage and sound was lame, but this is a much needed improvement for them. hopefully thats keith flint playing guitar, since him and maxim need more things to do on stage. :P:P:P

Re: Radio 1 Prodigy tracks (that even you haters will like....)
well - I actually liked Spitfire, but no - it's not a classic & no they really didn't add much to it.

I thought that Voodoo People overall wasn't good. It actually sounded even more dated somehow, save for the dubby breakdown "it's in your eyes baby" bit

Spitfire - good song, nothing much new

Poison - absolutely f-ing fantastic. Although, I did just d/l this collection of live performances (like a 'best of' live 3 cd collection) and when you listen to that... Poison overall hasn't changed since '94, save for the second half of the song.

Firestarter - I really really really really liked this version, with just the little hints of SMBU. I am just going f/ my file, I didn't download yours, but at least on mine - the only bits of SMBU were the indian vocals and the "smack my bitch" sample - so Stimpee, I don't really follow you about the "it's not tinkered with much" line as none of the beats, etc f/ SMBU were in the track

This was actually a really solid performance, and it did make me optimistic about where they will be going, by just the little bits of alterations within the tracks. There definately was more feedback, reverb, and dubby influences (and guitar) - all of which I think were welcome additions

although Liam is still a lazy bastard
