Hmmm, 22 year old male from Wisconsin, got into Underworld at the age of 12 I think. I saw some Fatboy Slim videos and really liked them and started buying up all the "techno" CDs my paper route could afford. I got the Lo-Fidelity Allstars CD from Amazon, and one of the reviewers said, "if you want to hear vocals in techno mixed underneath the music instead of just slurred on top of them, check out Underworld's excellent Beacoup Fish album". So I ordered that one and really started to like it, pretty much just listening to "Jumbo" and "Kittens" over and over. Of course after awhile I started to really appriciate it, but ended up scratching it to hell. 3 years later I got Kazaa or something and started to look up some of the old bands I liked, including of course Underworld, and found they had two new songs I really liked, "Mo Move" and "Two Months Off". And then I downloaded the Everything Everything "Rez/Cowgirl" and my jaw dropped. I picked up AHDO, couldn't find EE, so I d/led every track instead until I could order a copy a few weeks later. That CD, and the next one I ordered, dubnobass, pretty much changed everything for me - they got me 'high' well before I ever touched reefer. From there of course I bought up everything I could find, which of course meant Second Toughest and another copy of Beacoup Fish, and when the anthology came out, it was one of the greatest collections I had heard, as not only did it have 4 awesome tracks I had not heard before, but also the studio version of "Rez" (NUXX and Dark Train I had d/led a while back). So I went on a huge spree, not really enjoying the BF singles much, but I thought the Pearl's Girl EP was amazing, like discovering a whole new album, and I eventually found the Dark and Long EP with "Thing in a Book" on it, and at that point I figured Underworld must be the best group of all time. Given they occupied my stereo at least 50% of the time, by the time my horizons really expanded in college I didn't really listen too much to Underworld, since I knew like every single track by heart already. My interest peaked again when Pizza for Eggs came out and showed me the guys still had it, and I'm a Big Sister was a really phenominal release that reminded me just how amazing they were. Now as a working man who listens to music probably 5-6 hours a day in the office I am still having "Underworld days" where I set my iPod to old favorites like "Thing in a Book", "Dark Train", "Oich Oich", "Cowgirl", "Banstyle/Sappy's Curry" and "Mo Move" in with new ones like "Crocodile", "Back in the Fears" and "Parc", having absolutely no problem listening to their amazing 3-disc Tokyo set over and over, still awaiting the releases of the future classics "You Do Scribble" and "Always Loved a Film", wondering why more people haven't discovered this amazing group!
