Re: your favorite "best of" disks
I understand the goal of this thread, but it's still hard for me to pick out Best Of discs that I like more than others. It really boils down to bands whose greatest hits or singles I like that I don't own the albums of. Or just bands I like that happened to have put out Best Of albums.

I suppose I would say

Underworld '1992 - 2002'
Smashing Pumpkins 'Rotten Apples'
Soundgarden 'A-Sides'
Pixies (Whatever the cd is called)
Violent Femmes 'Add It Up 1983-1993' (Used to love this, and it's still great, but now I prefer their self-titled first release)
Jimi Hendrix 'Ultimate Experience'

I guess my final answer is The Vaselines 'The Way of the Vaselines' but that's not really fair because it's their entire recorded output.

Re: your favorite "best of" disks
I'm on my third copy of Eurythmic's "best of" as the other two began to skip from over playing.

Only complaint is "Listen To Beethovan" was left off the CD.

slowdive : catch the breeze
love and rockets: best of
REM: IRS years
the very best of al green
the definative simon and garfunkel

the list goes on...but i actually listen to those quite a bit. i have so much underworld from so many different sources, that even though i like the best of, i rarely listen to it.
