couple tracks off of vegas i remember fondly. "she's my pusher" abused my repeat button kinda often... and i remeber trying to sneak in a CD player on a field trip (not allowed) so a friend and i could listen to vegas... but, ah, one could do a lot better w/o trying too hard. |

Re: The Crystal Method - Vegas
Well at the show I went to at the House of Blues in Orlando, the music sounded great and you could tell it wasn't just the cd playing.....and if it was it was playing in 24-bit with lots of new twists and turns added!

Re: The Crystal Method - Vegas
well - here's my CM story:
So, after my last final as an undergrad - I decided to drop by Tower Records, as they were doing a in-store signing... to which no one was there, as it was the last day of finals, and most of the people were gone. we talked for a while, and I gave them a mix cd that I had made for a couple of friends. The one guy w/ hair flipped out on how cool the packaging was for the cd's that I made - and how I had Evil Nine on the mix... as at the time, they really didn't have much of a following, especially here in the US. So after a while, I just was like "what the fuck" and asked if he could hook me up with some VIP's - he said sure... flashfoward to that night... no VIP tickets, but I wasn't too pissed, as Evil Nine were great then CM played a while, as as the evening progressed... they got more and more drunk, until the one with hair climbed out of the booth, and onto one of the speakers, while the other guy played Bjork's "Joga" then the guy with the hair proceeded to stare me down, and 'sing' along to the Bjork track, never looking away from me. I then asked my g/f and a friend we met up there, if what I perceived to be true... and they agreed, and also thought it was really really weird so yea - they were good but I was totally creeped out |

Re: The Crystal Method - Vegas
i saw TCM in Rochester, NY when they toured in support of Vegas (no Orbital, just a long wait while they filled the entire room with smoke machine haze. Lunatic Calm was supposed to play but they didn't show up)... the light show was pretty and i was really into the music (Busy Child was the first record I bought when i got turntables... WAY before Vegas was out) but I remember thinking the one guy trashing his keyboard like that was pretty out of place. It BARELY makes sense when Trent Reznor does it in the midst of his angsty release to sold out arenas, but for a Las Vegas DJ to do it to a small crowd? stories of Jimi Hendrix's manager keeping the one guitar alive enough for him to beat the crap out of it every night instead of a new one came to mind. I also spied either one or both of the guys standing there drinking beer while their song played, but can't attest 100% to both of them at the same time... so who knows. It was an OK show

Re: The Crystal Method - Vegas
If you're interested with crystal method, and you're running itunes (much safer than limewire or those russian sites, and it supports the artists who make the music)
check this link -- the "euro club hits" series: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/M...Club+Hits+Vol+ This series the "Euro Club Hits" I think has some real winners on it..... |

Re: The Crystal Method - Vegas
and here i was wondering why anyone would bump a crystal method thread.
it did make me breeze through their debut album (the only one worth remembering, let alone listening to) and "she's my pusher" is the only one that still manages to be pretty decent. the rest... eh. it was good at the time. played a lot of SNES games to it. |

Re: The Crystal Method - Vegas
i saw them live in 2006, and it was ~ok. they didn't do much more than tweak filters a bunch, with midi controllers, motion sensors, and it would've been cool and acidey but it was all digital equipment and it sounded like they had it 100% sequenced with minimal input from scott or ken.

Re: The Crystal Method - Vegas
Their "Drive" EP was recycled garbage and not that great, so I can't wait until they pull the curtain off of the new stuff they've been recording for a while now.
I still don't get the hate......they were just fucking awesome live and all 3 of their cds have some cool tracks on them imo.
