Blackalicious- The Craft
Not sure if there is already a thread on this, but i surprisingly couldnt find one. I actually became a fan of the black from some cool recommendations from Dirts back in the blazing arrow days, so i was really anticipating the craft.

I'm really pleasantly surprised too. The beats and rhymes are stronger than blazing arrow, but like blazing arrow, can get a little...'after-school-special-ish' (one review i read mentioned it that way, and it stuck). regardless, pretty strong. too bad it came out in the fall, cause its defaintely a summer album.

it's grown on me a lot, especially a few tracks, but I still think it lacks the cohesion and musicality of Blazing Arrow

Re: Blackalicious- The Craft
He is fucking amazing.

All good hip-hop artists seem to come from "punk" label Epitaph.
Blackalicios for example but also Sage Francis, Atmosphere, Dangerdoom, Eyedea & Abilities, Lyrics Born, Looptroop, Pete Philly & Perquisite and more.

It's weird to see those artists on the same label as punkgiants Bad Religion, Rancid, old-NOFX etc. But actually I just think it shows how good Epitaph is as a label.

This is exactly how I feel. There are standouts for me that I love, but it doesn't span the same ground as Blazing Arrow -- i.e. where are the killer guests on this one? It's much closer to Gab's solo work than it is Blazing, IMO. Hopefully it's a "transition" album between masterpieces

My fav's:

Supreme People
Your Move
Automatique
Ego Sonic Wardrums (this is the one that grabbed me first)
The Craft
