Re: Dubnobasswithmyheadman: 20th Anniversary 5-CD Deluxe Boxset
Yes please ! I agree, most of the energy went into the official cd and not in the unreleased tracks. Can you send your files please?

Re: Dubnobasswithmyheadman: 20th Anniversary 5-CD Deluxe Boxset
Speaking of hearing new things in the remaster, on Dark & Long, the noodling bleepy line that's so prominent in the work-in-progress version and the "saved from the cutting room floor mix" (and the jam posted on uwlive.com in Dec. 2010) actually appears in the album version.
It makes a quick foreground appearance for 2 seconds at 6:41. But that's not even the most interesting part. After listening very closely, I realized that it emerged into the foreground at that point after having already been playing in the background for a large portion of the song. I believe it actually starts in the background at around the 1:05 mark. It's buried way in the background, super-muffled and echoey, sounding like it's playing in a hall, 2 rooms away. As best as I can tell, it's playing in the background at the following times: 1:05 - 1:37 4:10 - 6:43 but it's most prominent and noticeable from 4:45 - 5:15 when most of the other sonic elements in the song are quiet. That melodic line was buried in the song this whole time, but we just didn't notice! It's much clearer in the remaster. |

Re: Dubnobasswithmyheadman: 20th Anniversary 5-CD Deluxe Boxset
Well, the appearance of that bleeping arp (more prominentn in the "cutting room floor" mix / the "Dark&Long Jam" giveaway) at 6:41 was there for my in the original mix as well.
On the re-master you can you make it out better during the breakdown after 4:45, but it's still very much filtered and drowned in reverb. |

Nah, that's "S.W.F.A.B.N.F.I.", the little improv between Thing In A Book and Spoon Deep from Sheffield 1994. It's close but Alabaster White Thing uses a bell-ier sound and has a different note pattern.
