yeah, it's one of those tracks that's so emotional and haunting that I actually have trouble listening to it if I'm not in a good mental state.

likewise, "Thing in a Book" is one that really made me dig UW for life. IMO its length is the only reason why it's not on a "bigger" release or more well known.

check out the listing we made 5 years ago
for our anthology 2 project that we never
released:

maybe now would be a good time to revisit that..

Re: complete list of early b-sides
I like that idea. I have a similar playlist that's all the good non-album, non-single stuff, but that includes live versions of tracks that were either not released or sounded better than the versions that were (for example, the Tokyo 2005 versions of "JAL to Tokyo" or "Back in the Fears", plus stuff like "Cape Ffuno" and "Five Points")

that would be an interesting comp - the idea of compiling all the remixes/edits for different tracks is neat, but to be honest most of the non-UW remixes tend to be duds. I liked the pre-Born Slippy period where they just remixed everything themselves!

i agree with you also..the pre 'beaucoup fish' stuff is great.
but i liked a lot of the middle era with the internet releases
a lot too..but not the released album stuff as much..mostly..

here's my updated anthology v3:

i'm sure we could add at least 2-3 more discs worth of
stuff with the tracks you mentioned..
-------
full itunes version of JAL to tokyo w/20-minute Ancient Phat Farm Coat
a lot of vinyl only mixes
promo mixes
etc..

put up your listing of tracks.. would
be interesting to compare..
