I personally find abortion disgusting and morally reprehensible, but our current laws allow for plenty of things that fit that description, and I hate laws that legislate morality. The punishment is the crime!
you see, the thing is, where do you draw the line? obviously you wouldn't legalize manslaughter but i think abortion is pretty much the same. the thing is, is that you have two lives in the balance, and obviously the one that is a "complete life" (the mother) should be valued over the child in life or death situations. but if it isn't a life or death situation, what is the point in mandating that every state allow this to go on?

2nd trimester seems good to me. obviously I'm no expert. the whole thing is a debate on where "life begins" and whether or not you'll count a fetus as a human being while it's still undeveloped. the difference between abortion and manslaughter is that only the latter is really "dangerous" to society. i would imagine that getting an abortion is not a fun process and can scar someone mentally for life. the issue pro-lifers seem to make it about is people having abortions so they can go party more but i'm not convinced that's why women do it, you know?

The sooner hypocrites like Rick Santorum stop making it the major issue it isnt, the better. http://oursilverribbon.org/blog/?p=188

to me, the reason doesn't matter unless you're trying to save a life. and aborting babies based on potential disability (autism, retardation, etc.) doesn't count as "saving a life" (not that you support that, just using a commonly cited argument).

i don't agree with the hardcore republicans like michelle bachmann and rick santorum, because they don't believe in the right to privacy when it comes to abortions (bachmann seems to agree with the right to privacy in some cases, but i haven't heard santorum making a case for that right).

i think women have a right to privacy when they have an abortion just like they do when they have any other surgery.
