Manic Street Preachers Remix album (w/ Underworld Mix)
Each track from Journal For Plague Lovers has been remixed and will be released as a digital EP on June 15th. The band hand-picked an impressive selection of remixers:
"It's been a pretty overwhelming response to be honest. We chose people for each track hoping they would bring us back something unique, that they'd find something we maybe hadn't in the track. Without fail, they've done that. Heartfelt thanks from us to everyone involved". - Nicky The EP boasts the following artists and track remixes: Andrew Weatherall - Peeled Apples Saint Etienne - Jackie Collins Existential Question Time British Sea Power - Me And Stephen Hawking Patrick Wolf - This Joke Sport Severed Optimo (Espacio) - Journal For Plague Lovers The Pariahs - She Bathed Herself In A Bath Of Bleach Adem - Facing Page Top Left New Young Pony Club - Marlon JD The Horrors - Doors Closing Slowly Errors - All Is Vanity Four Tet - Pretension/Repulsion Fuck Buttons - Virginia State Epileptic Colony Underworld - William's Last Words Jonathan Krisp - Bag Lady ---------------------------------------- information please...

Re: Manic Street Preachers Remix album (w/ Underworld Mix)
Thats crap. They were very popular when he went missing, and The Holy Bible is their best album. Not sure if this new album is tribute or barrel scraping though.

Re: Manic Street Preachers Remix album (w/ Underworld Mix)
"William's Last Words" is one of the weakest tracks on an, otherwise rather good, album. i'd even go as far and say it is the best thing they've done since "everything must go"

Re: Manic Street Preachers Remix album (w/ Underworld Mix)
BLD:nice of you to delete your responses so that my response looks weird. The point i wanted to make is that they were already popular for years at least in the UK (though i know that The Holy Bible didnt get a release in the US finitially). They were top 20/30 for the first 3 albums and already had one top 10 single. Hard to say that his suicide made them more popular. The music has to stand up for itself also.
I'll be interested in hearing what UW have done with this though.

Re: Manic Street Preachers Remix album (w/ Underworld Mix)
Manics got BIGGER post-Richie, IMHO... I mean "This Is My Truth..." was HUGE... got them world tours and such, and that had nothing to do with the disappearance.
That being said, I do feel the band have been a series of diminishing returns for a while... never releasing outright BAD material, just losing their own plot. Haven't heard Journal yet, but I have the same fears as many - that it's a little of polishing the sheen off the memory of a lost friend. Alas - I'll reserve judgement until I hear it (novel in the Internet age, I know LOL!) |

Re: Manic Street Preachers Remix album (w/ Underworld Mix)
Too bad the EP that is released today only contains six remixes and comes without the UW-remix: http://www.manicstreetpreachers.com/...mix_ep_out_now
I hope it will come available in the near future... |
