greg-

i would have words with thee.

actually now i'm back to thinking this albums better than when i first got excited then 'realistic' about it. i've had the come down and i think i've trashed the album more than i should have in the process. boy, boy, boy isnt a good tune yet but it's familiarity makes it pretty okay, making ring road the only one that still really suffers. i like the rest of it a lot more.

more than "loads of birds" anyway. which is why im now pretty glad it's not on there.

Have words, then, Alan!

I used to like Crocodile, but now it sounds too bland and boring. I do like Beautiful Burnout, Holding the Moth, and Best Mamgu Ever. Boy, Boy, Boy I do kinda like, but most of this album is not something I'm going to turn to listen to very often. Loads of Birds is just deep and dark and sexy, and maybe you think it's cheesy, which I don't see, and obvious, which I don't care because it does what it set out to do and did it well. It gets me in a mood whenever I listen to it, and I can't say for much of the album.

Re: Loads of Birds
well since we both powerword-ed each other all i really need to say in addition to the BB, HTM, and mamgu love is

GLAM BUCKET
FAXED INVITATION
CUDDLE BUNNY

come on these were always the best tracks...

croccodile and the rest aside from 'those two' are good at the very least, and the 'sexiness' of LoB is suuuuuuper goofy.

LOL.

Okay, Faxed Invitation is pretty good. Glam Bucket could've been better because I loved it live. Cuddle Bunny....bleh.

Re: Loads of Birds
Glam Bucket suffers from Twist syndrome, whereby it's quite boring on the record but unbelievably amazing live. What do they have in common? Dirty guitar!

Re: Loads of Birds
i won't stand for this badmouthing of glam bucket. i'm dangerously obsessed with that track.

also, i will say this about loads of birds: it doesn't really sound like an UW track. it's distinctly different from any of their other works. every time i listen to it i'm reminded of gus gus's "remembrance" on polydistortion, but glitchier and more contemporary. same mood, though.

Re: Loads of Birds
im obsessed with the album recording of Faxed Invite, and the live version of Glam Bucket. Mamgu has probably reached a high level in plays as well. I think OwB is quite a good album and go back to it often.

Cuddle Bunny isn't even worth mentioning. It is what it is, but its nothing that I would ever get a craving to listen to. ever.

LoB reminds me of Massive Attack.
