Re: 2013-03-25 Brighton, UK (Karl Hyde)
I was there, it was brilliant.
The support act (Farao) did 6 songs, all very lovely and I'll get her upcoming releases. Wasn't long before Karl and the band were on stage, playing their hearts out for about 1hr 40m. Loads of energy and electricity on the stage, they should be proud as punch. The first hour or so was dedicated to tracks from the new album, was great to finally hear the stuff that hasn't been released yet. The remainder was covers of "that other band", reworked to fit the setup. Jumbo Bird 1 Between Stars Dirty Epic Pause for encore Unnamed/unreleased track by Karl 8 Ball I can now die a happy man but I have to get to the London gig first. DIRTY.

Thanks for the recap Raz. Very excited you got to see it. What were the highlights of the set for you? Any of the new songs stand out? Which of the 'covers' came across the best? OMG 8 Ball.

Re: 2013-03-25 Brighton, UK (Karl Hyde)
The biggest highlight of the set was getting to hear most of the album for the first time. It's tough to pick out favourite new songs though when you don't know the names to make that association. I've got fragments of lyrics and beats and basslines going around like a washing machine. There's a great variety in the songs though, and tangible beauty. Can't wait to listen to the album in full.
For the reworks, Jumbo felt the most different yet like home. Dirty Epic lived up to its name, first time I've heard it live, then 8 Ball happened. MAKES ME FEEL FEEL HAPPY

How about the support band? How many people? How much live playing? Did they have projected visuals? Was Pricey on stage? Did the Underworld songs sound the same as album or live versions, or were they re-instrumented?

was a great night.
new album material sounds ace...loads of influences on show, loads of live playing...reminded me of peter gabriel in places. underworld stuff sounded great...different yet still familiar enough. set up was two keyboard players with tech, karl on guitar which he plays loads and a bass player. must check out another show asap |

You can check out the support artist here:
http://www.farao.co.uk/ https://soundcloud.com/faraomusic/forces There were approx 400 people at the gig based on the capacity and what I saw. No projected visuals except for a little shadow play with shapes, some very bright lights with mellow and intense sections and lovely colours, plus 1 mental strobe session. No nicey Pricey with the yardbeeeeats. The UW songs were stripped down and built up again using Karl's voice, some of the original elements nicked out of Rick's cupboard plus new sounds and twists. The band brings its own unique sound to them.
