Karl's action painting at Oblivion Ball
Nice shots of the artist at work:
http://www.underworldlive.com/home/karl.html Some of those splotches and swipes make beautiful graphical shapes. Looks like, what with the long brushes, coveralls, and gestures, Karl is very much an "action painter" a la Jackson Pollock. I've always ben a fan of abstract expressionism, particularly Pollock. And while the old criticism is "kids think it's easy to splash out a Pollock" (stated more or less by Jackson himself), the process and movements of putting down the paint and the interwoven results are always unique to the artist. While Karl's painting may not be as layered and colorful as Pollock's better-known all-over paintings, the result is certainly eye-catching. Discuss?

Cool stuff! Thanks for the links! Wish i, and many artists, could be as free as those involved in the Oblivion Ball jam. Sometimes, spontaneity does pay off.
