Re: The Chemical Brothers - Further
is it just me, or is that short bridge around 2 minutes very "windowlicker"-esque? also, the main synths remind me of something....but it is rather catchy. much better than that escape mediocracy one.....

Re: The Chemical Brothers - Further
bas i am, i hear you - at 3 minutes, the radio edit of this is pretty tame. But i'm holding out for the LP version, and hoping also that the tracks are mixed - that makes it more epic imho,...think EPD and DYOH or the first half of Fluke's "Puppy". Whether intentional or not, a nice mix keeps the vibe high.
I'm also pretty psyched that people are still talking about the Chems 15 years after their debut. I have certain strong feelings associated with their albums, and while they may have faltered in quality lately, i stil have all the LPs, singles, EPs, sticker on my car bumper, etc. Unless "Further" is a total trainwreck, which i doubt, the Brothers will still be in my top 10 favorite bands...like them or not, there's always something interesting to hear in their tracks.

Re: The Chemical Brothers - Further
ok, for what it's worth/not worth, i read that "Further" is entirely instrumental. With the LP versions of "escape velocity' and "swooon" being longer than these radio edits, what do you suppose of a fully mixed, psychododelic concept album from the Chems? i could dig it for sure!
Even though i consider "Come With Us" (2002) to be their last great album, they've still had moments of genuine creativity amongst the sap and rap of the last two records. I hope they've realized with "Further" that they have their own sound and no amount of indie/hiphop guest vocalists will add to the album, just do it as they'd done in the 90's/early '00's - keep it heavy and keep it swirling!

Re: The Chemical Brothers - Further
Windowlicker? Yeah, maybe for those few bars - of course, on the LP version, that could be substantial.
Still. I'm liking the prospects. I've been at the record store for every Chemical Brothers release and though all but the first two have met me with some surprises, i've always had the same eager anticipation and similar multiple plays, letting it sink in. For example, "hey boy hey girl" and "It began in Afrika" didn't do much for me as promo singles, but on the records, they were just fine, amazing, even! \ i have a good feeling for "Further"
