Re: Denver show now at the Fillmore Auditorium
Just got an e-mail from LiveNation Denver's head honcho. He basically says that LiveNation didn't sell enough tickets to fill Red Rocks, and they wanted a full venue. He spends some time establishing his street cred. He totally sidesteps the fact that my friends all paid big bucks and are making long journeys to come here, but offers an in-person apology.

Quote:
I have received your correspondence regarding the change in venue for the upcoming Underworld show in Denver. First and foremost, please accept my sincere and heartfelt apologies for the inconvenience and disappointment this has caused you. Our top priority is to always deliver a first-class concert experience to you, our patrons. As a company, we take very seriously our responsibility to give both the artists and the fans nothing less than the best.

Live Nation is privileged to book shows at this one-of-a-kind amphitheatre and truly understand what a magical and unique venue it is. At the same time, being both a huge fan of Underworld and having attended countless shows as both producer and patron, A tough decision had to be made in order to preserve the integrity of an event such as an Underworld show.

The decision to move the show away from Red Rocks was extremely difficult for all parties. After much deliberation all parties agreed that seeing Underworld in any venue without the energy, the crowd-noise and the excitement is simply not the Underworld experience. Moving the show to The Fillmore would allow the band to bring the most electrifying show possible with a full-house of fans going absolutely nuts. At the end of the day, fulfilling this promise is the ultimate goal of Underworld and of Live Nation.

As concert promoters as well as fans (I was involved in promoting the DEMF in Detroit the first 2 years and the Delta Heavy Tour with Sasha and Digweed and S---- K---- the Denver Marketing VP worked at Asterlwerks for years), we are firmly committed to promoting unique and diverse events. I would truly appreciate the chance to speak further. It is my goal to keep you excited about the show and confident in Live Nation’s ability to deliver a quality experience.

Again, on behalf of myself, S---- K----, and the Denver office our deepest apologies for this unfortunate situation. I booked this show as a promoter and a fan with every intention of it being a special event for everyone. I do hope to get the opportunity to be your gracious hosts on Tuesday at the Fillmore and would love to make your experience there memorable, if your inclined please ask for me when you arrive. Despite all the disappointment, one thing I know for sure is that Underworld will blow the roof off the place and I want you to be there.

My Sincere Apology

Re: Denver show now at the Fillmore Auditorium
He ( Mr. Pres of LN) should have predicted this,
sucked it up, taken the loss he created by not promoting well
or adding a decent opener.
Instead, we take the loss.
Way to go Clear Channel (again)
A despicable response.
He makes it sound like we're getting a better deal.

I feel for the band, though I'm sure they'll perform their hearts out for us & themselves as well ...
I hope they never work with these "folks" again.

Re: Denver show now at the Fillmore Auditorium
after seeing underworld rock a half full venue in junkie alley san francisco, im absolutely thrilled to get the chance to see them up close in another small venue. The band are playing great sets and sound fantastic. I bet they rock the Fillmore Tuesday night. Seeing underworld is my primary concern. Pretty rocks come later.

Re: Denver show now at the Fillmore Auditorium
Well, Red Rocks only filled a third of the way would've sucked a bunch of energy out of the show, especially if everyone scattered. It would've looked and felt kinda ridiculous. So to some degree, yes, I can understand this. I don't like it, but no amount of bitching and moaning is going to change this (unless of course they sell another 5,000 tickets by Monday).

I think I'm siding with dubman now. Yes, I'm pissed, but fuck, at least they're still putting on the show. It is still UNDERWORLD.

Re: Denver show now at the Fillmore Auditorium
Well, I'm still dissapointed in the change of venue, but I'm not going to let it ruin my trip. Ultimately it's about seeing Underworld live in concert, which is still happening. I'd be way pissed off if the show was cancelled for some reason. When the Red Rocks show was first announced I contacted a few Dirts in Colorado and decided that the Red Rocks show was the way to go. I bought tix's for the show, bought a plane ticket and booked a hotel.

So I'm out here in Denver and enjoying myself. Went out to the Garden of the Gods today, took some cool pics, did a little hiking. Still psyched for the show on Tuesday night, I'm sure UW is going to try and make up for all the headaches. At least the crowd is going to be full of 'dirts' having a good time. Luckily I'm still on for the Central Park & Boston show, but honestly, the Red Rocks show was the one I was most looking forward to.

Hope to meet up with ya guys on Tuesday. Now I have to figure out where the hell the Fillmore is. see ya.

junkie alley is right. just one block up it's all bloomingdales and expensive shoe places, but the warfield is a hub of HAVE YOU GOT A DOLLAR COME ON MAN YOU TELLING ME YOU DONT HAVE A DOLLAR.

tho honestly i can't tell which is worse. bloomingdales is pretty fucking terrifying. there's no life there. soul get sucked into the top floor vaccuum as everything becomes more spotless and bland riche.

sorry, i live in a cowtown.

Here's a little news on the upside of things: the current weather reports are "PM rain" (9news) and "60% chance of thunderstorms" (weather.com). My regards to anyone who hasn't seen a show at Red Rocks, it's a wonderful experience. But in my case I'm OK with a little smaller, and drier, show. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Re: Denver show now at the Fillmore Auditorium
I agree with Brotherdub. I'm gonig to see Underworld, no matter what. The venue would be nice - but for me, this is a religious experience. I've been waiting for well over ten years to see UW live. As long as I get front and freaking center, and dance like a maniac for the whole set, that's all I want.

Oh, and maybe, just maybe, a killer rendition of Juanita and Cherry pie

dubman, it was rude of me to swear at you. true. i'm sorry about that. it's totally stupid to actually vent on a forum anyway. i'm sourly dissapointed and won't be going. they could have easily played vancouver instead of denver. the ONLY point in going to denver was to see them at red rocks. it's pretty rocks, sure, but that was a really HUGE deal making that decision. my response was reactionary, and i appologize. i didn't really mean to attack you, but i'm pretty upset.
