Just got back from the show. Here's a slightly more accurate tracklist:
1. Intro (tomato anti-rom-esque stuff) 2. Dark Train/Nu Train (I can't really tell the difference) 3. Cowgirl 4. Rez 5. Two Months Off 5. Push Upstairs 6. Cups 7. Beautiful Burnout (with Dirty Epic lyrics over intro) 8. Small Conker and a Twix 9. You Do Scribble 10. Between the Stars 11. King of Snake (no piano) 12. Nuxx 13. Pearls Girl (with more Dirty Epic lyrics thrown in) 14. Jumbo (with some new keyboard riff in the final grooves) Encore 15. Spikee (with vocals and guitar outro) 16. Moaner

Re: 2009-08-07 Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA
I didn't arrive till the last 15 minutes of the DJ set, so I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of reggae. Edit: Just read the thread. There was no reggae in the theater between sets, so it was all in your head, I mean, on the stream.
I don't have too much to say. You guys all saw the show on the Interwebs. Some of us were watching the stream on iPhones before the show started, seeing if we could see ourselves. The venue was beautiful. They did an amazing restoration job. It still has the feeling of the old-time theaters while being all sparkly brand-new. It filled up nicely. The whole bottom floor was filled to the back. The balcony was only about a third full, but people were dancing up there. Lots more people than last night in Vegas. Lots of fans too, from the number of people I saw singing the lyrics. Met some fans that it was their first show, so I hope they were suitably blown away. Also found dubman at the front, so it was nice to meet him. I think I like the Oblivions with Bells tour version of Beautiful Burnout better. I'm not sure why; I can't describe it. Again, Between Stars got a good dancing reception. I wonder how popular it will be when released. Spikee was killer tonight; better than last night's version. Here's one of my better pictures. A tender moment at the end of NUXX. Juanita was spared again tonight. And Born Slippy was a possibility too. Onward to L.A. Better find my glowsticks... |

Show is up for re-broadcast already. A record of this should be in the Library of Congress. Jason |

What a fabulous photo of Rick and Karl, Todd. Would love a copy of that, please!
They were clearly dog tired. Jet lag plus a night in Vegas must have taken its toll, for sure.

Re: 2009-08-07 Fox Theatre in Oakland, CA
I've been seeing them since the mid-90s and I want to share a little story...as I drove from SF to Oakland last night, 'Dark Train' on the car stereo, the entire sky was awash with pinks due to a fantastic sunset. Earlier in the day I'd been playing 'Cowgirl' with my youngest because she loves yelling ICE CREAM ICE CREAM (LOL)...so to arrive 5 mins before they went on, 42 years old, waiting, hoping for a great night, and se them peel off 'Dark Train' and 'Cowgirl' for the first two was a large slice of serendipitous heaven.
For what it's worth, I thought they were really 'on' last night, a very very strong show...and trust me, I've seen more than a few!!! Hit the hay at 2 am having re-watched some of the show on the laptop, woke up at 7.30 and just finished showing my youngest some of it again...feel like a young person LOL...energizing...delicious...if I didn't have family I'd follow the bastards around the country!!!! For all who are seeing them on this mini-run, enjoy... |

Actually, I can confirm there was reggae in between sets. If you don't remember it, you must have been so traumatized you blocked it out.
