it's gonna suck... august 19th will be a sad day at the water cooler... but you know, it's fun to have everybody so excited about something so ridiculous right now... I'm enjoying the good vibes immensely, even if pretty much everyone thinks it's gonna suck. the trailers look SO BAD... all those really poor CG snakes... just horrible... but you know... a friend of mine was talking the other day about this... it seems we don't really get theatrical exploitation-esque movies anymore. All the horror stuff is like remakes and sequels with WB stars... remember the 90s when we had stuff like Man's Best Friends, Ghost in the Machine, Wes Craven's Shocker... all horrible movies but also kinda fun. The way I see it, Snakes is sort of like that... and to tell you the truth I'd rather have a sucky Snakes on a muthafuckin PLANE than When a Stranger Calls.

...it's still gonna suck though. but it's SNAKES. on a PLANE. that's it!

What is sad is that films that you mention are what this film aspires to be but what will happen when this film becomes a few years old. Will it still carry the same clout and heft of say a Dr. Giggles or Brainscan or (insert late 80s/90s film of your choice).

I think the closest we can come to theatrical-plotation film aside from MOTHERFUCKING SNAKES these days is something like the latest Harrison Ford trainwreck like Firewall, or, well, I don't know what else. I'm in total agreement though regarding old fashion shitty films made, just to get a few bucks out of people bored on a Friday or Saturday night, or even a Sunday night.

I just remembered another to add to the list, the epic Jean Claude Van Damme/Rob Schnider film Knock Off as part of a double feature with the Van Damme/Dennis Rodman film DOUBLE TAKE!!!!!

So yeah, it's gonna suck, some people will buy into SNAKES entirely. Kids will buy the shirts at Hot Topic! and wear them to school on the first day of class in September. And then the DVD will follow in October, perhaps by a limited Halloween rerelease. And hopefully that will be that.

come on you other guys... all movies are hyped... without the hype this movie would not even have been mentioned, its not gonna make the movie any better, and to be honest the fans have made the movie what it is...and we're not talking oscars, but its a simple stupid fun movie...

people are gonna cheer when Sam L says 'Motherfucking Snakes'.... and see stupid big snakes on a plane...

oh man... austinites are revelling in the hype.

In addition to the Blanks on a Blank parody short filmmaking challenge going on right now, live snake handling in the theater is also planned for opening weekend as well as Snakes on a Day, where one ticket lets you watch the movie for the entire first 24 hours that it's released, and also Snakes on a Plate, where you'll get to eat a different kind of snake at every show.

In addition, this theater is also programming drive-in favorites SNAKES and THE RATTLERS to play the same week... it's gonna be a snake-a-palooza down here in august!!!

I really love when they do that. Personally, Superman Returns wasn't bad but ABAR THE FIRST BLACK SUPERMAN was tons and tons and tons more fun to see...
