Re: Isles of Wonder - Music for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games
A couple of links:
The full 3 hour and 50 minute ceremony with no commentary (but with stadium effects). Available to view 'in the UK' until January 2013. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...emony_no_comm/ For those wanting more information on the ceremony itself, here's 46 page the press briefing document to help people commentate and write about the opening ceremony as a whole: http://www.london2012.com/mm/Documen...DE_English.pdf Some pages (e.g. 24) appear twice. The first version was available before the event, the second after. Alex4D |

Caliban's Dream falls to # 21 on the UK Charts for the week 18th August 2012.
I can't see it peeking higher than #12 now that the Olympics are over. |

Closing ceremony was, er, a contrast - repeating mimed music within 40 minutes of the start - just bloody awful!

Re: Isles of Wonder - Music for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games
It's not an interview with Underworld, but I caught this on the Richard Bacon / Zoe Ball podcast this weekend:
"...There's an interview with Mike Dolbear, the guy that taught 1,000 drummers to provide the heartbeat of the London 2012 Opening Ceremony, with an exclusive performance from his Pandemonium Drummers..." The interview is split through the podcast - first part of the interview starts about 6:20, and continues at 31.40. Lots of name dropping of Rick Smith, and the Pandemonium Drummers play a live session (although it is edited for the podcast) and they talk about the process of training 1000 live drummers. http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/dailybacon Direct Link: http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/...0810-0916b.mp3 Last edited by Mike; 08-13-2012 at 07:33 AM. |

Ugh:
http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/cal...to/id552780363 I don't know how iTunes can allow shit like this on there. This is not the first Olympics music rip-off I've seen on there either. |

On the upside the lyrics are probably easier to understand in their version...
Also found it amusing that they named every single contributing artist in their "Tribute To" section, despite the fact that the majority of their roles are probably served by a Casio keyboard here.
