Re: 2010-11-27, RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin, Ireland
It's down on the RDS site as being on in hall 8C, which holds in excess of 6,000 people.

That can't be right?

Well i presume it is going to be in the same indoor area ive seen nearly every gig there.. and its a pretty big room if i remember... kinda cavernous... and the sound isnt great...

Are you suprised at the size being too big or too small??

Cus i have a feeling they are struggling to sell tickets to this..

Here is the floor plan... http://www.rds.ie/index.jsp?p=102&n=129

Yeah. On the Oblivion tour it was two sold out nights in Tripod (The second one tagged on after good initial sales). What does Tripod hold, maybe 1,200 tops?

To be honest I'm amazed there hasn't been a venue change at this stage (I have no idea how it's selling) unless the hall can be seperated/divided.

Really strange choice of venue

Re: 2010-11-27, RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin, Ireland
The Manchester and Glasgow gigs the two night before are in venues with less than 2,000 capacity each, so it is really strange that they'd try for 6,000 in Dublin. I know they're popular here in Ireland, but still...

Interesting looking at the potential door revenue (not the same thing as Underworld's fee obviously) for each gig too:

Manchester 1,500 x £22.50 = £33,750
Glasgow 1,900 x £22.50 = £42,750

Dublin 6,000 x £33.70 = £202,200

Something seems wrong here. I'm guessing they're using a smaller capacity room in the RDS than Hall C.

Support acts for Dublin are Japanese Popstars and Shit Robot btw.

Not too crazy bout the support acts but the Jap Popstars would actually draw in their own support if they publicised it a bit on ticketmaster and RDS site... but still i would prefer a smaller venue and preferably Tripod because of the incredible sound quality in the place... it was epic last time..

I have a feeling they are hoping the success of the Electric Picnic gig would pull in the same crowds if not more..that went so well and it had more than 6000 in that tent i am sure...

Shit Robot - 7.30 (Doors open)
Japanese Popstars - 8.15 (via Twitter)

I'm guessing Underworld will be on at 9.30 then.

UNDERWORLD DISCUSS FORTHCOMING RDS WAREHOUSE PARTY

23 Nov 2010

When Underworld requested to go back to their roots and do a show in a quirky warehouse type project for Dublin, the classic warehouse feel and character of the RDS left no challengers .

Underworld Release ;
"We want to bring an old Skool Party vibe on our next tour and re create the magic of when we first took to the road . Along with showcasing our New Album , Which we are very exited about , We plan to bring in a bit of Nostalgia and take a trip down Memory Lane to bring us back to the early warehouse parties . When we saw the pictures of the RDS , We felt it was a perfect fit and the production for this tour will absolutely set this classic style venue off . "

The Production team have gone all out for this show to make it a very special occasion and have come up with some very clever ideas to turn the RDS , Simmoncourt into a time capsule of the Ware house parties of the 80's and 90s glory years of Dance Music .

Fantastic, really looking forward to this gig now - should be a great setup seen as its the last gig of the tour.

Lets hope they drop a few of the older classics, to go with the old skool vibe.

all the best
