a mix to calm the nerves
Hey all,

Did this for a friend in need last November, and as i needed some semi-ambient soothing tunes today, i dug it out and figured i'd share it with you.
Others do the ambient stylee mixing better, but i like the atmosphere.
Plus, it includes UW and some music learned about on dirty!
Expect some surprises, esp. from names you think you know.
It is the sound of the late late late hours...

"You Wouldn't Believe How Dark It is" (60:28, 128 kbs, 55 MB)
mixed by AViD, 11/28/06

(intro: Karl Hyde)
Lostep..........................6 AM Sedna
Underworld....................Something Ambient (to heal and restore)
Genesis.........................Unquiet Slumbers For the Sleepers
Apollo 440.....................Stealth Mass in F#
Orbital..........................Attached
Marshall Watson.............Buried
Milieu...........................The Burning Snow
The Prayer Chain............Humb
Mr. & Mrs Christmas........Choppo
The Orb........................Oxbow Lake
Michael Hedges..............Aerial Boundaries
Steve Hackett...............Horizons
Sigur Ros......................hvalir Ã* útrýmingarhættu (endangered whales)
Penguin Cafe Orchestra....Perpetuum Mobile

Apollo 440 f/Jack Kerouac.. Diamonds on the Sidewalk

Nice one Holden!
Good flow, and you use one of my favorite "ease the soul
after a long night" tracks, in orbital's "attached".

So, thank you.

Re: a mix to calm the nerves
im listening to this now and its just great. one of the best ambient mixes ive ever heard (and i've heard a few). while i'm not a fan of genesis, their steve hackett-era instrumentals are listenable and i'd never have thought to drop them in here.

megaupload is sloooow tho. have to find an alternative...

It's a nice mix. I especially dig the track after Orbital - Attached.

Edit: you've got to be kidding, that's Marshall Watson's!
