Re: Good Day Today

About the gun samples - some of them seem to fit perfectly - while others absolutely seem "tacked on" /QUOTE] What do you mean 'some of them'? The gunshot sample appears twice, in sequence and the stomping noise that follows also appears twice. There is a pattern established by the lyrics and those fit into that pattern. The gunshot and stomping samples happen in exactly the same 'space' both times they appear. This is like some 9/11 Truther shit where people are looking for clues that just aren't there.

Re: Good Day Today
I kind of like this one...basic programming structure that does not really evolve into much, but is still very enjoyable. Hoping the gunshots are not really a part of the track...maybe thrown into the promo as a way of distinguishing it from the official release?
Certainly better than the High Contrast collab. HC destroyed my love for YDS. |

Re: Good Day Today
it's not just for the sake of liking it. i've got no problem deciding it doesn't appeal to me if it never clicks. but i do try to get my head around new songs and see if a bit of repetition makes them more appealing.

well - I only heard it once via the live stream... if I remember correctly, the first few gun sounds - appear intentional there was even some reverb/ effects and it matched with the beat but there was this one specific gun sound that was repeated once or twice... if memory serves me, it almost sounded like a "gun reload" or like a "ca chink a chink chink" sound that was LOUDER than all the other 'gun sounds' (and ANYTHING else present in the track) and it was off beat (edit) That being said... I still believe it IS by Underworld and I wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with Brian Eno but that's pretty much just a random thought with no factual basis mainly just because it sounds like "And Then So Clear" with an UW beat on top Last edited by joethelion; 05-18-2010 at 10:05 AM. |

Re: Good Day Today
the gunshots and sound effects appear at 2:00 - 2:11 and don't appear again. the song is appx 4.5mins meaning the gunshots appear midway through the track. I've transcribed the lyrics on page 1 of this thread and if you look at those, you'll see where they appear and that they don't reappear. Listen to the production and effects of those noises. They've got reverb and they sit perfectly in the mix. This is not added by KCRW and are indeed intentional. Why all the confusion?
