to me, the reason doesn't matter unless you're trying to save a life. and aborting babies based on potential disability (autism, retardation, etc.) doesn't count as "saving a life" (not that you support that, just using a commonly cited argument).
i don't agree with the hardcore republicans like michelle bachmann and rick santorum, because they don't believe in the right to privacy when it comes to abortions (bachmann seems to agree with the right to privacy in some cases, but i haven't heard santorum making a case for that right).
i think women have a right to privacy when they have an abortion just like they do when they have any other surgery.
