Honestly, I'm not 'too' let down on that one. I've only really given Mo Move one full listen. I'm glad the "official" version is as is as well as the dubbed in tracks being released in their own form. Not too impressed with Ballet Lane being any different from the orig(I think). And just did snippets of the rest.

But who knows, I mean, Oblivion has grown on me?

Oh and I think Hundred Days is as stellar in it's own way just as dubno, sttititi, etc. I like Underworld.

bitch.

Re: Ansum — A Hundred Days Off industry promo
i have to agree with you, john. everybody's going nuts about these new endings to the tracks, and honestly i can see why they took them out— the new ending for twist, for example, simply doesn't fit and just sounds like the end of two months off tacked onto the end. and i bet the same people who love it now, had it been included on the album, would have noticed the similarity and thought it was cheesy.

ditto for mo move. the ansum part, honestly, just sounds tacked on, like they didn't know what to do with those bits so they just put them there, then decided against it— it just doesn't fit, it almost sounds like something somebody could've done with audacity on their pc. i like the track little speaker a lot better than the mo move with ansum on the end. it's extremely obvious that it wasn't written that way, seeing as the bits from 'little speaker' and 'ansum' match exactly with the bits from the end of mo move, like they were just pasted there. i think they went back and wrote the song little speaker to use that bit and to me it fits better.

not that i'm saying that multi-sectioned tracks are bad. i just think if you don't perform them together, and kind of stick two different tracks together that weren't written for each other it just sounds like a crossfade.

overall i guess my point is that i think they made the right decisions in the end.

Well after years of digesting AHDO, I can say that Little Speaker is a track that I skip frequently or fast-forward for the stellar ending. That said, I really like tacking the good bits onto MoMove rather than even have LS as an album track. Maybe a B-side?

As for the ending of Twist... I LOVE IT! Maybe it doesnt work on the album and sure, thats a legit rationale. But as a little bonus track that Im hearing today... LOVEI T! Twist as it is on AHDO... pretty good. Twist live... FANTASTIC! Something's always been missing from the album track. Some lost energy somewhere.

Little Speaker is very nearly a great track. I'd like to hear Rick explain that out of time drum part.

"Q--que? .. . .. . .........

If I stand up straight . . . . . I just go f-in' 'ell ..........................Que?"

Just a portion of some of the best lyrics ever put to wax, well, ya know. Also, I've always thought she saying 'I just to f-in' "out"', but again that's just me. Love the spoken words in this one.

Little Speaker (track on regular AHDO) at around 3:05 into the song, the beat goes noticeably offbeat for a few seconds.

I like it.

Remember reading an interview, i think it was "Keyboard" magazine, where Rick and Karl explained that they spent a lot of time moving around the percussion to make it sound more "live". The off-beat percussion never bothered me, and as a producer myself, sometimes, it can add a bit of dramatics beyond the 4-4.

Beyond the obvious differences, i think i'm most enjoying TMO - i hear a different pattern before the main chords come in.
