yeah i can't believe it seriously. I think that all this guys mentioned
like Oakenfold. Nick Warren, Sasha, Carl Cox!!for me are the definition
of big sell outs that a) don't push electronic music to anywhere b) make
the mainstream so depressive!

Sasha and Paul Van dike and those make gigs in NYE here in a beach of Mexico.. when those dudes are making such a business here you know they are gone

Sorry don't flame anyone but they SUCk.

Yes u are right, no question about that, but remember without these Djs the scene will be not like today, maybe worse, maybe better, but Im satisfied with that. It took me ages to get to this music. Im dissapointed that they are making bussiness now...
But they are legends... No question about that...
I can mention Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, they are on top too with them.

Who care about Tiesto? Dont make similar Cox and Tiesto... please...
Cox is still banging, trust me...

Re: TOP 5 DJ'S TODAY ( opinions will vary )
I was @ Tiësto in concert Hasselt november 6th of the last year, and I must admit it was pretty fun, with surprising records played by the guys. 2 hours of the 7 hours set were pretty boring(pure old school trance), but when when he saw he had to move the crow(Belgium is more techno than Trance, even if it's changing a little) he did it very well, but it's clear that this guy(with Cox and the others) are not pushing electronic music anywhere. But on the production point I think Tiësto is far better than Cox and Oakenfold.

Tiesto is strong in produce i must agree with that, his song Nyana is one of the best hard trance anthem ever. He knows in that track what to do.

But please dont put Oakey and Coxy on the same line as that Tiesto...

Coxy`s new studio album is wicked, far better than Tiesto... far better...
Cant compare these two...

Re: TOP 5 DJ'S TODAY ( opinions will vary )
...wait

people praised Oakenfold,Nick Warren, Carl Cox and Tiesto?

man that's crazy

Look - I used to absolutely hate Sasha for all the traits mentioned, but he really won me over with his Involver release and his Essential Mix. I do think that they're really over-hyping his use of Abelton, but other than that...

Tiesto is merely total crap. I've only seen him once or twice, but both times he just bored the hell out of the crowd, with one time needing someone to come out and try and 'rev up' everyone for Underworld b/c Tiesto killed the scene

Oakenfold is a has-been, and always will be unless he does a total re-think about what he's supposed to do

I also find it funny how people are kinda lumping Breaks dj's in with the rest of the crowd... as I feel like there's a definite separation between them and your average "bangin'" dj know what I mean?

...that's not to say all breaks dj's are good

You're joking I hope ? Second Sign is totally average.

Instrumentals (and some vocals) on Just Be or IMM are very good for this kind of music(trance/hardtrance/dance, but what Cox made with his new album isn't interesting for techno or house field...

And as I said before, when I saw Tijs he was boring yes, but only 2 hours of his 7 hours set. But it's possible that he's boring sometimes, like a lot of dj's indeed...

To finish with him, when I listen to Oakenfold, A. Van Buuren or Paul van Dyk, I really think is one of the best producers in the actual mainstream trance/hardtrance(and maybe progressive)

Re: TOP 5 DJ'S TODAY ( opinions will vary )
unfortunately this thread was bound to break down, into Tiesto is crap, Oakenfold is crap, Sasha is crap...etc

its all down to what people like...

some people here don't like breaks dj's, some people don't like trance dj's. some people like to be different and name weird djs as their favs (Magda )

but come on guys...Tiesto is the worlds most popular dj...not necessarily the best, but he is loved, and as are Coxy, Oakie and Sasha...and the more popular you become the more critics you get...

Man United and Real Madrid are the worlds best supported footy teams, but are universally disliked, by many more people (United more so)...success breeds jealousy, and critisism...

so what if Paul Oakenfold has lost his way...he's not fucking bothered sat at his mansion counting his remix money (and he can't always have been a 'hasbeen', joe - thats a contradiction) ...he was one of the reasons why people became dj's and why people got into dance music in the 1990's...you may not like him, but he was and still is an influential dj...

Sasha has been at the forefront of dance music for 15 years...and i expect him to remain there for the next 15...

Tiesto is taking trance to the masses...it may be cheese half the time, but what he is doing is still spreading the dance music message...ok so what if he's sold out...i don't think he's that bothered...

we had this same arguement on the last forums...and i still stand by the fact that Tiesto isn't complaining, and although he was djing at the olympics, he was deemed big enough to do the job...

keep bashing away...but you don't see any successful deejays posting on internet forums - they're all out doing what they enjoy...did any of you get paid £30,000 to dj on NYE a few years ago?
