need feedback on my track
It's a hobby for me, this is all produced in reason 2.0: http://www.doublepsyche.com/bin/bts.mp3 ("Bringin' The Smackdown"). Please let me know what you think of it.

I'm not really into tech house or whatever genre it fits into...but the 2 accordian sounding notes could use some variation; don't know what led you to pick that particular patch, i found that sound a bit irritating. nice beats though.

Re: need feedback on my track
My 2 cents: I don't like the beats, they're too simple (as in, taken from Reason without changing it too much) and the kick-drum is a bit cheesy I think. The sounds are ok, although I agree with Nooneishere, the 2-noted melody could use variation. The bassline thingy becomes pretty cool at 1:40 or so. It could use some extra sound(s) to keep the 5:42 minutes more interesting.

This just isn't really my thing. But considering it's your hobby, keep on going . Making music is a great way to use your creativity, so I recommend it to everybody.

The song reminds me of Groove Armada - Final Shakedown

And a question, how long have you been making music?

Thanks to both who replied. Yeah, I realized while making it that it sounds the closest to Dave Clarke's 'Southside' (which admittedly is a big influence).

I've been making music here and there for about 3 years, I don't think I'm any sort of hot shot but I have been improving. It's definitly not something that comes naturally, that's for sure!

thanks again.

That's ok, I didn't mean to sound elite or anything. And I think I'm not really "talented" either. I just keep going, taking my time doing it, and see what comes from it. For me that's the best way to do it.

no problem (if I came across as bitchy it was unintentional).

it reminded me of a mix of New Orders Fine Time. Not too bad, just needs a bit more varation and production to keep people on their toes.

I agree with the others, the samples sound a bit cheesy (but hey, it's reason after all), and the sounds could use some variation.

Keep at making choons Kiosk. I once was making tunes as a hobby and it turned into a career in a similar field. You never know what you're hobby will develop into!

Re: need feedback on my track
I'd say it's pretty decent. The bassline is good and works along with the beats to keep it moving. It does get a bit repetitive (although I understand that it's sort of supposed to with this kind of techno )
I think what is missing primarily is "production value". All the sounds sound kinda dead and a bit unintersting, which is probably partly to blame on Reason, but mostly just experience so the best advice is to just keep going and experimenting. If you're up for it, experiment with effects and processing; delays, reverb, modulation fx, compression, distortion etc... There's lots to learn from resources on the web or in magazines (like SoundonSound).

Well I do have a hefty amount of effects running throughout. Part of it is Reason's limitations. I do want to get something better soon now that I have a computer that can handle it (I'm thinking CuBase but haven't looked into it much).

Thanks everyone so far for replying. Yeah, I have 2.0 right now, might get a new version later.
