ministry - in case you didnt feel like showing up
just reclaimed this concert dvd.
taken from the 89-90 North American tour ( land of rape and honey ), its fantastic. superimposed imagry ( or special effex ) ala tomato. i was 18 when this came out...and i was a massive Ministry fan, being an industrial dj at the time. i had this on vhs, and must have played this hundreds of times. then someone stole it. buggers. feels good to reclaim some of my youth by watching and now owning this. Jello Biafra gives an ' up yours ' speech to the US government... burn baby burn. its shared on soulseek if youre interested. 800 meg file. |

Re: ministry - in case you didnt feel like showing up
That cd was pretty much the soundtrack to my high-school life. Haven't listened to much ministry in the last 10 years, but every once in a while I revisit it and it grabs me by the balls. When they're good, they're a great visceral thrill.

Re: ministry - in case you didnt feel like showing up
a blistering double drum kit 11 minute version of SO WHAT.
Ogre singing THEIVES. Al wearing some crazy WWII helmet. visions that, little did we know, would come back to haunt me 15 years later. this file will never leave my hard drive. lollapalooza...7 pm...sun is starting to set...assorted human looking bones attached to the mike stand front and centre of the stage. 35,000 people wait impatiently...crowd has absolutly no idea what theyre in for. enter Ministry. Al looks possessed...pissed off to no end. spits JD into the front rows. i'll never forget that concert...permanently etched into my mind. I saw Ministry recently here in Toronto...small club gig...just as intense...Al , now clean and sober ( ala Reznor ) still has the strength and power to Fcuk your mind up as he did before. i hear theyre announcing another North American tour. not to be missed. its neato to see a full grown man ( Al ) pummel a life sized lookalike dummy of Dubya. picked this up at the 2004 tour. http://store.ministrymusic.org/Produ...roductid=MS110 now downloading...skinny puppy - aint it dead yet ( dvd ). Re: ministry - in case you didnt feel like showing up
my neighbor and i became so obssessed with Chris Connelly after watching this video over and over, he even tried to get his hair into dreads... of course they didn't look the same and he had to wear a rasta hat to school once then get all his hair cut off but still.
yeah they sold links of the chainlink fence at invisible records at one time... they also intercut the video footage of all the eyes during 'stigmata' on this video didn't they? i remember seeing this before catching the proper video and being super grossed out by the one frame that's all bloody and melted. I heard Ministry for the first time the same exact night I heard Nine Inch Nails for the first time. It pretty much defined my musical taste for a good 3, 4 years. Those were the days though, when WaxTrax! was on fire and all those hypo/luxa releases were kinda leaking out like PTP (with Chris Connelly), Acid Horse (with Cabaret Voltaire), Paildhead (with Ian from Fugazi), and Lard (with Jello Biafra). it really felt like you could be living on Damen Ave in chicago if you tracked down enough of their singles and EPs... By the way, i have a lot of those little side-projects ripped for my friends on soulseek if nostalgic curiosity ever grabs you. |
