The Chameleons: Inspiration for Stagger?
This was mentioned a long time ago on the forum, before youtube, about the similarities between the second half of 'One Flesh' by the Chameleons and Stagger. Listen from 2:00 on (although the whole song is good and has a great change from the first part to the second part):

Re: Inspiration for Stagger?
Its a bit of a stretch to say this was the inspiration for stagger. Its just the couple of notes next to each other played twice. However, both are great songs and The Chameleons are massively underrated. Script Of The Bridge, What does anything mean basically, and the fan and the bellows (album and song) are fantastic. Why they werent as successful as their manchester/liverpool peers I dont know.

Re: The Chameleons: Inspiration for Stagger?
Digging up an old thread, but rather than agreeing that Stagger can be heard in One Flesh, i'd argue that the beginning of Tongue is either inspired or samples the segue between the end of Here Today (3m40s) and the beginning of Monkeyland from the Chameleons debut Script of the Bridge album.
Its about the last 15secs/beginning 15 secs of each song. The similarity is much closer.
