Re: [new tracks] -> _unreleased_dubnobasswithmyheadman_era_
Thanks a bunch, I was always fascinated at now UW mk1 became mk2. Listening to the mk1 albums (which I enjoy but don't see as having much replay value) it's hard to imagine those guys were talented at all, much less capable of something as great as dubnobass, so it's nice to see the connection - these three tracks DO sound like they began as mk1 compositions, and if you hear the 1990 mk1 demo you can see they were starting to change direction a bit. Although it's techincally mk2 the "Mother Earth/The Hump" single did just sound like the mk1 band with a bit of DJ input. I really admire what became of "M.E." for the album. In a way I see dubnobass as being the 'full realization' of the sort of electronic music that much of the 80's was going for. It's easy to see many of those tracks done in a cheap New Romantic style. However with Emerson's help they really got the right idea and made a fantastic album, the likes of which probably will never come again, considering that Underworld had, in retrospect, the perfect history to create an album with that feel. This DAT version doesn't have the tracks that kind of buck that trend ("Cowgirl", "Spoonman") so that influence is a bit clearer now. Thanks for sharing!
