Re: A Collection 2 (Surprise Release?)

Pretty disappointing they feel the need to re-release these same tracks under a new collection once more. Is there really any need?

Re: A Collection 2 (Surprise Release?)

A much better collection than the first with the full versions and no short edits, and over twice as long...

Not available to US market yet...

Re: A Collection 2 (Surprise Release?)

I can't imagine why this collection exists. Odd selection of tracks too. The total runtime is longer than 2 CD's, so I imagine this is a digital-only release.

Re: A Collection 2 (Surprise Release?)

Track selection doesn't surprise at all, it's pretty much what's on 1992-2002, 1992-2012 and full versions of what's on A Collection.
The addition of the two tracks from the Olympics opening ceremony are fine and all, but I agree, there's no reason for this to exist. Is it legit?

PS the artwork is just the negative of A Collection, with a 2 slapped on it. This smells fake to me, like that dodgy Orbital best of a few years back. Yet it has the Smith Hyde and Universal music credits. ?

Re: A Collection 2 (Surprise Release?)

I do recall looking for Collection 1 late last year and it wasn't readily available digitally in the US. Perhaps it went out of print?

Not sure. I had purchased the CD of Collection 1 on Amazon. Nothing comes up for 2, however, I was able to purchase it on the Japan iTunes. It is an odd release, but I believe it to be legit. It could possibly be a 3 CD release... 2 full CD's and a mini 3" CD... not too much of a surprise for either a Japanese, German, or Australian release...

I'm sure if this gets a physical release it'll only be available as an import out here in the states.

Re: A Collection 2 (Surprise Release?)

It's very common for legacy groups to release or reissue Best Of's when they have a new album out. It makes sense to have a compilation readily available for people who may discover them because they sound like Sleaford Mods.

I digress but it drives me nuts that Beautiful Burnout isn't on any of the compilations. It's a fucking masterpiece.

Re: A Collection 2 (Surprise Release?)

why include the disastrous olympics music when you could *bangs table* REMASTER SPOON DEEP.

this whole comp doesnt make much sense tbh

Yeah, I always find it sad that Crocodile is the go-to track from OWB instead of Beautiful Burnout.

Agreed. I also think Bird1 quite transparently trumps Scribble.

Strumpet > Bird 1; the synth stabs in Bird 1 literally ruin the song for me.

Neither of them are the go-to track from OWB. That would be Faxed Invitation, Holding The Moth, Best Mamgu Ever or even the Japanese bonus track, Loads of Birds. BB puts me to sleep and Crocodile is a bland version of a great track that debuted in 2005 (see Zurich 2005 show http://uwlive.rowla.com/gigs/view/264)

But I suppose some people love BB...After all, it was once Biro The Leggy.

You know, I've never actually heard Biro the Leggy. I always meant to ask about it because when BB appeared everyone seemed to know it already, but I'd never heard it. Where can I dig it up?

I seem to have missed that broadcast, all I have is the Underworld performance for Peel in 2003. Is that tribute show available? Doesn't seem to be on RTSR.

Re: A Collection 2 (Surprise Release?)

Sorry, my mistake. The Peel tribute show, Keeping it Peel, was on Dec. 16, 2004, on Radio 1. Artists sent in tribute tracks or performed live. Biro the Leggy (as heard in the YouTube above) was Underworld's (pre-recorded) contribution.

Underworld debuted that version two days earlier on Dec. 14 on a Dirty Radio broadcast. I don't have that particular broadcast on the tracker yet, because I'm still looking for more sources.

Re: A Collection 2 (Surprise Release?)

OK, I haven't had a chance to go through the whole thing, but the version of "And I Will Kiss" is different on this release. The drums are different from the beginning until the 1:47 mark.

ultradave 03-21-2016 01:56 PM

Re: A Collection 2 (Surprise Release?)

I've got 2 versions of Biro titled as Part 1 and Part 2. Part 1 runs for 9:22 and Part 2 runs for 13:06 seconds. I have no idea where either of these are from. I don't even remember where I got them...

Part 1 is definitely BB in its infancy. The drums kick it after 6minutes.
Part 2 sounds nothing like BB - it is from a Broadcast with Peggy Sussed mixed in at the end. Not sure if these 2 tracks are even connected - may just be mislabled...

BB is definitely much better than Crocodile. I will say that much. As far as Barking goes - I would take Between Stars or ALAF over Scribble.

Is there a decent source for this track from the Radio 1 broadcast? BB is a favorite, but would love Biro the Leggy.

Cheers!

For compilations and promo, I mean. Crocodile's not a bad song but it definitely doesn't stand out in their back catalogue. Good Morning Cockerel and Best Mamgu Ever are my two favourites from OWB, but as a single, Beautiful Burnout is, to me, the obvious choice of a track to go on a compilation like this.

Also, Biro the Leggy is a much better title than Beautiful Burnout (see also Telematic Peal and Jumping the Cran)

Re: A Collection 2 (Surprise Release?)

Is there any other sites where you can purchase the 2 Olympic tracks separately? I do not need to spend 13 pounds on music I already have. I would love to get those two tracks in lossless though for my UW collection. If someone could help out, I do have If Rah remixes in 16 bit and Shining Future Remixes Japan release in 24 bit.

I will take a guess that your Part 2 is actually what was colloquilly known as "Lonely Bollock" until we discovered that this track is called Bamboo. That broadcast/jam had Peggy Sussed at the end.

..."I am lonely bollock. Sometimes happy bollock..." Yeah, this was some kind of broadcast. Sometime early into the track it cuts out and then someone says that they are having some technical difficulties and then then track picks up again and blends into "amnesia" which I take is from Play Pig before going into Peggy Sussed. Of course with the way R & K recycle their lyrics and sounds - it could be anything. I'm still hoping that 5 Points will resurface...

I would love to have the 2 Olympic Tracks. Everything else is easily available from multiple sources, but as an American, I can't buy either of those 2 because they're not available here. It's this kind of thinking by the record labels that lead to bootlegging!

Grrrrrrrrrr.

Do you mean the first one or the 2nd, because according to discogs, the 2nd is a digital only release. I own everything else on it, and basically only want it for that unreleased "And I Will Kiss" song. I know, I know... It's a sickness...

I grabbed a copy of the olympics soundtrack, that has caliban and kiss on both on it. I haven't bothered with this collection...
