TONIGHT... Scribble - New Single

The first new Underworld music in two and a half years is available from tonight (13th May 2010) via this site.

Described as a gene-splice between Yellow Magic Orchestra and Grooverider blasting out over the dancefloor at Fabric on a Friday night, Scribble is a writing and production collaboration with Hospital recording artist High Contrast.

It will be played tonight for the first time in the world on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio One show, between 7 and 9pm UK time.

This short version of Scribble will be available immediately after broadcast as a free MP3 download for one week only through this site. A high quality MP3 (320 kbps) and WAV version will be available for purchase through the underworldlive.com shop.

On Friday this week (15th May 2010), Radio One’s Pete Tong will exclusively air the long version of Scribble on his show, between 9 and 11pm UK time. Scribble is the first track taken from Underworld’s forthcoming sixth studio album which is due at the end of the summer. Hope you like it.

Well the page says it's a collab with High Contrast (which surprised me even more because I love High Contrast already) - so I don't think it's a new version of "You Do Scribble".

Though. I do like "You Do Scribble". But either way I'll be impressed, because I've never been disappointed by Underworld. I have faith in them. ;D

I am cautiously optimistic about "Scribble" - buuutttt....

some of my thoughts echo BLD's. I mean, "You Do Scribble" is quite old... Wasn't it first played out live back BEFORE the RiverRun series?

and over the 5+ years that the song has existed - how much could they possibly changed/ polished?

IF "Scribble" ends up being "You Do Scribble" - I don't see it being dramatically different than the version that we originally heard; which seems to be kinda a waste


...that reminds me - I haven't heard all of the "new" songs... I have the "Live Here Now" release that has "Strumpet" on it

but what recordings should I track down to hear "Diamond Jigsaw" and "Between Stars" (wasn't one of them played during a UWlive broadcast?)

Yeah, I don't see it being very different either, but it's still unreleased. Think of it in terms of people who don't hang out on UW forums, d/l bootlegs or tried to snag a copy of the Tokyo set...this is basically a new song that they have maybe heard once at a live show. Sounds like a good candidate for a single. Of course it's been around a while but how long was it before "Biro" or "JAL to Tokyo" was released??

ugh they wrecked it i think... it was grand.. now its a dizzy rascal song like the lyrics... like the original parts... but this synth... and the drums are repeditive, they used to be real random and... well interesting...
