Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
ha! Teenagewildlife used to be the webpage I ALWAYS went to when I was obsessed with David Bowie :P
(actually it was even a list of David's 'top ten albums' or whatever that got me to buy my first UW album - STITI) |

New York audio up
I miss my dog |
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
Indirectly related to UWLive but Perou mentions the group, the NYC show and the website on today's post. :)
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
I wish all the new photos would go up in Perou's gallery, including the inflatables set.

Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
from today's journal, re the US tour:

UK electronic duo Underworld hasn’t brought its legendary live show to the United States in more than five years, but it’s certainly not because of laziness or lack of interest. Blame simple economics. “It’s very expensive to come to America,” explained Karl Hyde, one half of the seminal dance act. “It’s the only place we lose money. And we haven’t lost money in 20 years.” “It’s a drag because we’ve got so many cool fans here,” Hyde said from San Francisco. “It’s kind of heartbreaking when you can’t come and play live to the people who give you daily support. But we bit the bullet this time.” link |
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
What, did they think just because electronic didn't go over huge, that we just got on a boat and sailed to some distant land, or dug a hole and burried our heads in the sand.
callin' out callin' out who are you call rang back an echo of misunderstood silence and the people in the city crawling under the city riding rails of discontentend occupations flatline yellow a bowl of glow comes over them scent of steam, chicken and waffles metered parkin' as the people arrive band dips into the archive can't hold back myself waiting for the new UnderworldLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVVE! |

Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
Anyone else misssing the old style uwlive entries where the text was written on the photos themselves?
I'm trying not to say this from an archivist perspective as someone who would save every image that was posted everyday, but I really liked the layered effect of the posts in the past. Whether it was a photo taken by Karl on stage with his own text or from someone else's camera. These new images while very similar to the previous incarnation of underworldlive seem to be a bit different and off at times. I understand this is something to be expected when change occurs, but I really had grown to love the text placed over an image from a camera phone in such a way that it would shape and direct the viewers eye to a point or area in the picture. The wrapping of the text, sometimes sparse, other times verbose, seemed fitting for the photo, time, and place. I would be curious to know what others here think of the new photoblog incarnation up at the site now and even what Karl or those in the underworld crew have to say about it. I'm sure there are many positives and negatives to the new incarnation, such ease of editing and posting. |

i like to view the whole picture as taken - i especially loved the simple clouds picture yesterday... its more professional looking now as a blog / opener page than it used to be while it is still simple and easy to use i like it... change is GOOD! :) |

For the longest time, I didn't even know the text on the pictures were diary entries. I didn't even read them. Then I did once I realized what they were.
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
change is good, indeed. :p However, I preferred the old way of putting the text on the photos. It was a unique and interesting way of communicating that I enjoyed very much. Of course, the new photos are nice too.

Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
Love that first pic on UWlive today...Has an eerie "entering the underworld" feel to it.
looks like Rick and Karl...of course when you click on it you find out it's not... |
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
anyone know how to save the "Alligator version" of the Crocodile video?
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
You need a program that can save a rtsp stream. Here is the stream:
rtsp://a312.q.kamai.net/3/312/2046/46f3f4a1/1a1a1a6bda50b91e91bf30a41a48a91989f55a88eb5ac7f663 d248b11689b82c9b0869dd4c7bf05ec22799107ff15dc1f053 c53497066ad33fa4d7/alligator_300.mov |
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
that is so.... goofy.
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
"Alligator Version" was really fun to watch. So completely goofy, though, I agree. I'll bet it was a blast to make.

Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
the alligator version is the better one imo,
i love karls face close up :) |
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
I've tried Mov Recorder once, and it didn't work for me. YMMV.
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
Nice Lost In Translation link
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
Enjoyed the Autotrader recording that's crept into several of the live shows (e.g. Cocoon club gig 06). The panning and snipping of the quoted years is fun, and makes Karl's voice sound like a text-to-speech recording!
Also love the images for the OWB gatefold...that would be lovely to have in poster form, say 4" or larger to a side! ;) |
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
leave it to Underworld to make music out of the used auto listings.
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
Wow, "Space" is really, really nice..
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
I linked this in aNt's thread also, but it's apparently a traditional Welsh hymn called Calon Lân:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calon_Lân Sorry if this has come up before, but what is Underworld's connection to Wales? I mean, it comes up regularly in their work, such as this Welsh hymn, "Best Mamgu Ever", Welsh language lessons in the radio broadcast, just to name a few. Can anyone enlighten me? |
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
Rick is Welsh, they also met in Cardiff in a restaurant i believe......
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
Ah, thanks.
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
Didn't Freur have at least one song with lyrics in Welsh? It was a special version ... like "some song (welsh version)". If my memory doesn't fail me ...

Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread

Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
hey! the underworldlive.com site is curently unavailable. could this mean that the new 'shop' is being added by senor aNt?
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
let's HOPE that's what it means!
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
Yeah there is a video of Doot Doot in welsh floating around the interwebs.
|
Re: Underworldlive version 3.0 thread
"Space" sounds like an interlude to a new space! Something is giving me goosebumps.
