I'm with ya but I see why they're doing it - these EPs aren't really getting much attention outside of the UW faithful, whereas a new album would. I also get the impression that some of these tracks may be kinda unfinished and may get fleshed out (see - "Soniamode")


as far as speculation...I was gonna start a thread for that but figured it might be a little early. my first guesses are "Another Silent Way", "Listen to their No", "Custard Speedtalk", and "This Must be Drum Street"...but on the other hand those tracks feel nearly perfect in their form now

Good call. Speculation is fun, but we still have the better part of at least two more episodes, maybe a third, to be surprised (see "Listen to their no". Goodness, that came out of almost nowhere, save the pre-sale announcement, and doesn't it just set a new high bar?)

Further, what are the fan favorites might not be what Rick and Karl choose as representative of their evolving sound to a broader audience.

In any case, it's quite a fun ride!

As I listening to the EPs, I think it's not too hard to guess what tracks will be on the album. Every EP has 2-3 album potential tracks, but the rest are demoish, or too long, or too experimental for an album.

Yes, i agree, but if i add up what i'd deem "album-ready", it's far over 80 minutes already.

Low Between Zebras 2:57 (this track has really grown on me, and features prominently in the Drift album announcement)

That's 87+ minutes just so far. Okay, maybe these aren't all included, or some get edited, or maybe Molehill or Poet Cat get on instead? Still, it's gonna be an interesting mix, given all the strong tracks thus far. As for if it's too long or experimental, well...see their back catalog.

i reckon we could get Appleshine in some kind of new form or another. i mean, it is listed as the (Film Edit) on all platforms... that coda at the end just has to lead into something

I also think that Appleshine Film edit in an even shorter edit would fit on the album.

If my fave tracks will be on the album, I think I won't buy the box set, the EPs will be enough digitally for me.

Also...does Brilliant Yes that Would Be count (since they used it as an intro on Ep 1)?
I also assume we’ll get Border Country ast some point too? Which could be included since they’ve been playing it live...

Listen To Their No must be longer in a final edit. Really. Unless they make it some form of single collection.

Also, I wonder about 52 weeks, 52 releases. That would include all the gorgeous bonus material and makes me nearly nope for a bonus USB stick or something with all releases included. *drool*

This is my wish (track) list. It's only 60 mins, so there some room for 1-2 tracks from EP 4-5. I think these are the most accessible tracks for an abum.

I suppose it probably means 'one time pressing' rather than very strictly limited. The Barking box was a limited edition and they're still selling them.

Yes. Every Blu-ray disc is a UDF volume that can contain data in addition to the BDMV application.

However, with the total Drift runtime coming in at about 4 hours (if we estimate the runtimes of the last two episodes being 0.5-0.75 hours each), that's pretty much stretching the limit of 1080p video that you can put on a single BD-50 disc, so there's not really going to be any room for data.

Also, I think this was mentioned in the sleeve notes, but I think we're still due one more Necks jam, which could significantly increase the runtime of one of the episodes.

Appleshine is a new fave of mine. It's classic UW. It's like Dark Train. It would be the perfect album opener!

Was wondering the same. Maybe Doktor Avalanche? I mean, drum loops have gotten insanely good. Even if you just play with Garage Bands drummers, they do sound natural to an extend.

Though I really still want more sleeve notes.

thought i'd put this here: when they announced the new album, they also put up merch for the World of Underworld. i just received my t-shirts and bigroombangers print today. it doesn't say this on the website, but the prints are sized A2. each are also numbered out of 250.

This is such a strange interview. It's like the interviewer wasn't actually present during the conversation. It's like they just dictated their answers and someone transcribed them.

For Example:
"Torture the Artist: Have you been approached for licensing tracks from ‘Drift’ for other films/ series at this moment?

Karl: Yes!

Torture the Artist: What’s an artist you’d love to remix one of your tracks from the ‘Drift’-format?

I guess this will stay a pipe dream, but I do have a tiny bit of hope there will be a track with samples of Juanita.
I am not even sure when she was last sampled, but it would make for a nice roundtrip in terms of musical / sound history

They've got a lot to work with, yeah? Even if the new LP is revisions of Drift tracks, it'll be amazing.

Best case scenario, entirely new tracks. 2nd best: a mix of great Drift songs and new material. 3rd: best of Drift, remastered...some difference from the already released tracks. 4th: compilation of Drift tracks s formerly released.
