I've listened a few more times, and have also made the rounds of the Prodigy-contemporaray forums. I'm glad to see that it's not just me. Prodigy have become something very niche. That's fine and it happens to many bands. Fair play if you still follow them. Fair play if you prefer change.

PS. I do appreciate Liam's energy and approach. It's just not my cuppa since FOTL/AONO, and even then, the cracks showed.

Yep, this one is a throwback. Liam's batting 1 for 4 on the new record thus far. Its what fans have been begging for , so glad he's delivered. But yet, is it a return to form, or a retro nod?

No one ever expected electronic / dance vocals to be meaningful ( excepting Underworld, if course), and they're ultra-dumb again here. Hype it up live with Maxim and Keith. On record, the lyrics are cringe.

I'll definitely give it a listen tomorrow when it's up. Like I've said above, only one track has caught my interest, hoping there's more like it...but I'm in a good/weekend mood, maybe aspects of the other singles will sound better in context. TBD.

Need Some1 is the weakest for me. This album has a more underground, old skool feel. If you like We Live Forever, you should dig quite a few tracks on this one. Timebomb Zone is definitely my fave off the album. But this album don't seem aimed at being radio friendly.

True to my word, I listened to the album twice, fully. I will admit that it is their best since AONO. Maybe that's due to less Keef and Maxim? I thought that TDIME and IMD were crappy, mostly because they seemed aggro for no reason and the shouty lyrics were annoying. Excepting Fight Fire With Fire, this record is a lot less abrasive lyric-wise, and the beats and manhandled synths got me through the workday. I won't be buying it, but I'll listen to it more frequently than their last two records.

PS...opener Need Some 1 seemed slower than the single version? Or am I imagining?

Quite a shame. Very sad to hear he succombed to his mental struggles. You just never know what others are battling through.

The Prodigy scored a lot of my early electro memories, and though I'm not the biggest fan of post-AONO, I get that their aggressive niche still had plenty of devotees and Keith's on stage/record passion resonated.
Spent today revisiting their catalog.

Yea, it is just such a shame.

I think it took me a day or so for it to sink in. I mean, I wasn't a "super fan" by any means, but I still followed them through their latest album (I also kinda found the post-AONO sound not always "for me" - if that makes any sense)

I've also been going back through their discography...

Man, what a fucking tragedy. Not my favorite to listen to all the time (have to be in the right mood), but there's no denying the huge influence they had on dance music and Keith's contributions to that.

I have not had the opportunity to see them live, and now will never get to see Keith.
