Still waiting on my boxset from the UW store (tracking says next Wed, yikes), but I'm baffled by much of the responses so far, as they seem totally on par with the options for the other UW album boxsets.

May be mis-remembering, but I thought it was only the main album that came as a digital download on the boxsets (in Mp3 and HD) and not any of the additional discs. That would be the sampler for this set.

The other boxsets also came with the glued on back sheet (as most boxsets or specialty packages have in some form). It's a way to show all the required info (tracklisting, credits, barcode, etc.) without it being a permanent part of the designed boxset shell. This seems to be a compromise made decades ago for specialty music packaging (and even collector DVD/Bluray sets).

Am totally surprised by the 24-bit only download of the extra bonus material (especially as half were already offered as Mp3s), but that's a fully workable solution as opposed to the reverse, so huge kudos for that (though it is still work to convert and tag all those).

Would say it's a mixed bag, but it's more an insanely overflowing bag that puts a smile ear to ear and is hard to get mad at the details. :)

I can't stress how fucking good "Seven Music Drone" is. I really hope it gets played live!

I wonder if it was recorded after "Threat of Rain" (which could explain why it's only a 'bonus track')

I have no clue why certain tracks weren't part of the weekly Drift releases but I did notice that a lot of 'em seem to be Karl freestyling over some loop which maybe explains why they didn't think they were "finished"


of course a lot of it is amazing, "Big Bear" probably my favorite so far but so far I've liked all the bonus stuff. maybe "One Piano True Need Hand" is a bit unnecessary but that's it

I adore "Dune"; I was driving home tonight after a long day at work, and the track is such relaxing, late-night mood music. Just gorgeous. I love how this band's music, especially over a big box like this, is so varied.

one thing I noticed about that track is that it totally fits into the atmosphere of AHDO - a lot of the same sounds from say "Ess Gee" & "Ballet Lane" appear. not to mention the track somewhat fitting the mold of "Sola Sistim". it's almost like they deliberately tried to bring that sound back.

Seven Music Drone reminds me so much of 23 Blue. It was a crime that was left off of Barbara.

All the bonus tracks could have made up an Episode 6. Also, I think the alternate version of another Silent Way offers a vision of what they could have done if they decided to whittle the year of releases down to a single album.

Based on some posts I’ve seen, most US people received theirs Thu or Fri. Even I got mine yesterday.

If you go into your account on the store website and look at your order history, there should be a tracking number in your order detail. Plug that into UPS, and it should give you some information.

I love how this take expands on the sound of the original while bringing in the “Low Between Zebras” poetry. It also hearkens back to “song-in-parts” epics of STITI. The melodies capture the vibe of Mole Hill in a more complete way too. I have it starting my alt-universe “album” as well.

Yeah, I just really like its existence. Although the multi-part songs are possibly over-represented in fandom given how few there are (first two tracks on STITI, Skyscraper and Cups at a push), they do really feel very Underworldy, and I'd love them to do more in the future. Drift in general has much longer tracks than anything they've done since the '90s and that makes me happy. More of this please guys, play around with structures more!

I got 002 for my box set number. I wonder if that means they actually filled the orders in order this time, unlike Barbara Barbara. This time, I ordered literally while the new order bundles were still being created on the storefront. For Barbara Barbara, I ordered an hour before the announcement went out, but ended up with box set #81.

I absolutely agree, having so many discs to play with allows the boys so much opportunity to develop tracks and ideas. I'd still like a thirty-minute version of Dune, mind!

PS. Still confused about the dog. Did I shame them into omitting him/her? Well, I kind of like the blank space now... you can fill it however the mood strikes. Certainly the most stark graphic design in the Underworld canon!

Mine arrived in Atlanta on Thursday too. Really nice... #288 (had no idea there was a signed thing so a Brucey-bonus!) ... lots to go through. :)

The only thing that seems odd [ to me at least ] is that 48/24 download codes have been given for the Sampler and Extra Materials but not for the Episodes (which if ripped are going to be 44/16). Would be great to get the Eps at the same rate to complete everything (without having to buy them again).

I think it's all a bit Random. I got #563 (or something like that) this time despite ordering relatively quickly. For Barbara I got #8 but was a bit late with my order for that one!

OK, I finally finished my analysis of Dune. On the album version, there are 3 sections, at 8:13-8:26, 9:08-9:22, and 10:03-10:17, where Rick has put a new, interrupted drum pattern to break up the flow, compared to the EP version.

I've got the 2nd disc of the Japan Sampler. Here we go:

Low Between Zebras is the same as the album version, except an early segue at the end to the next track.

Toluca Stars is the same as the album version, except for the segues on both ends.

Doris is the same as the MSP version, except for the segue at the beginning.

A Moth at the Door is identical to the first part of the album version (but without the second part, obviously).

Dune is the same as the album version, but with a segue at the end to the next track.

Hundred Weight Hammer loses 9 seconds of its intro, and has segues on both ends.

Do Breakers Trip has a segue at the beginning, and an early fade-out at the end.

Molehill is identical to the album version.

Haha, I'm extremely grateful to my country (despite how I feel about the government) supporting me while I'm unable to work... let me just preface with that haha... But it was very tempting in my Universal Credit interview when they were asking what my "essentials" beyond food were... "Well, Underworld have put out this amazing box set and I really really want to read the PDF of the attending cover art"... One always dreams that the reaction will be like that one episode of Spaced where the officer takes pity on Tim because she, also, hated The Phantom Menace (ha, remember when THAT was the Star Wars that lit people's furies alight?) But yeah. Thank god for food banks, and for new underworld music. DRIFT is really it for me, that plus Tyler, the Creator's IGOR defines my musical 2019 (and probably a good way into 2020 for DRIFT given the huge amount of material)

Hoping this is successful to the level at which the lads want it to be, and that "Series 1" tantaliser gets justified... I'd be happy just DRIFTing from now until the end of time.... :)

I am almost ready for the dust to settle on the tracks.

Although, it might be better to compile all the drift songs, and versions
separately before integrating them into the full list.

Todd, or anyone else, do you have a list of all the drift tracks, downloads,
and extra songs. The only formats I use are vinyl, digital, cd, and bluray.

if not, i will start compiling them also.

I've worked my way through the discs a few times now. Drift is a phenomenal piece of work. Not sure where to start regards favourites or what's so special.

I do still have the list. I'm working on it, but have been a little busy. Finishing the comparisons on the Sampler above has been part of completing it. I'd like to work on ripping the Blu-ray audio too, but I'll try to publish something soon.

I'm finding the boxset to be amazing. Nowhere near able to post my full thoughts yet, but the book is phenomenal, and many of the tracks for me sound even better, and more cohesive. I'm hearing sounds I didn't pick out on the downloads, and really enjoying some tracks that didn't do it for me at first listen.

However, I really came here to ask if the misterons melodicgroovesfortwistedfloors mix that came with the download was something else in the inbetween releases, as I can't recall hearing it before, and a quick count suggests 19 WOUW releases, but there's 20 files on my download.

So is it a bonus? Or did I miss one? Or did it have another name?

I only have 19 files in my download. There is no Soniamode (Aditya Game Version) included in my zip file.

Misterons melodicgroovesfortwistedfloors mix is the same track as The Misterons WOUW Mix 13-12-18 that was the first non-EP Drift release.

My biggest realisation from all this is that I really needed to pay attention to these tracks week-by-week, as trying to take the whole thing is a nightmare. I've had the lot of shuffle on my phone for a couple of weeks now and there are still tracks I barely recognise. Going to take a long time before I begin to feel like I 'know' these tracks. Whatever form series 2 takes, I'm going to try and take it all in as it comes along.

Anyone else having issues with the Sound of Vinyl download? I've downloaded the 5.77GB .zip file twice now - but getting an error when trying to unzip it on a Mac. Trying several unarchiving tools and it's only showing 13 tracks, Did the download change or is it just me?

I'm pretty sure you can't use the built-in decompressor. macOS's tools have problems with archives over 4 GB. They don't implement the zip64 standard properly. I think you need to use something like Stuffit Expander, The Unarchiver, Keka, or BetterZip.

Threw the shipping box for my box set in the recycling bin, but took a few days to unwrap the box set itself. Don't see any part of the box set signed or numbered so I'm guessing I threw something out with the shipping box by mistake! Probably number 001 and all. :rolleyes:


Don't really care though. Still getting lost in the music and the book. :)
