Tickets for Saturday are sold out but I see some here for sale. Friday tickets are still for sale at 25quid + fee (or just straight 25quid from the box office from 6pm onwards)
MEETUP!
Prince Albert: 8.30PM (or earlier) leaving for the Academy around 10.45pm-11pm
PRINCE ALBERT 418 Coldharbour Lane SW9 8LF (Google Map here (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=SW9+8LF&spn=0.005,0.02&hl=en))
Unquestionably, the finest pub in Brixton! Attracting a mixed and very friendly crowd, the Albert enjoys a fierce loyalty from its patrons who enjoy the cheap beer, extended hours, extremely eclectic music selection and the legacy of its legendary landlady, Pat Burke (who sadly passed away in May, 2002). Located next door to the 414 Club, this is the best place for a pre-club drink or just a pub night out. We recommend it. Look out for their poetry slamdowns, excellent quiz nights and, of course, massive free live music nights.
BRIXTON ACADEMY 211 Stockwell Road London SW9 9SL (Google Map here (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=SW9%209SL))
Here is a map (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&saddr=SW9+8LF&daddr=SW9+9SL&hl=en&geocode=&mra=ls&dirflg=w&sll=51.463513,-0.11276&sspn=0.009211,0.021887&ie=UTF8&z=17)showing how far it is! (358ft!)
Fri 31 Oct: Carling Academy Brixton 8pm - 2am
Underworld: Over 18's only. Provisional stage times: Underworld DJ 8pm, Appleblim 9pm, AutoKratz 10pm, Appleblim 10.45pm, Underworld 11.30pm, Underworld DJ 1.30am -2am
Sat 01 Nov: Carling Academy Brixton
Underworld: Over 18's only. Provisional stage times: Underworld DJ 8pm, Rob da Bank 9pm, AutoKratz 10pm, Rob da Bank 10.45pm, Underworld 11.30pm, Underworld DJ 1.30am -2am
Doors 8pm - 2am
I thought about the Beehive but its always packed with pre-Academy people and you cant get served easily. I know its on the way from the tube/rail to the place but The Prince Albert isnt far. It just a couple of hundred metres the other way. The Dogstar I remember going to once before seeing Orbital (that was a while back) and it wasnt very good, but it might have changed... Not sure I'm bothered about standing in the academy for 2.5hrs before the gig on saturday so i'll probably skip Rob Da Bank's first set. Not sure about Autokratz tho so lets see what the consensus is.

Well dubman, United are doing a return flight from SFO to LHR for the weekend for just under £700, which now the exchange rate has just gone to pot for us Brits is about $1000... surely worth it to see the boys in action... twice! :)
A friend of mine flew from Vancouver to London last year for one night, just to go to a party!!! Mental!

Sadly, even I've looked into airfares, but more as a wistful thing.

Yes, I'll be there on Saturday with 4 of my mates.
I'm sooo looking foward to this - had such a great time at the Thursday gig last year and whatever the first night of the two was this year - came out of both wishing that they had been weekend, late finishes. Then lo and behold, my prayers were answered.
I think it's going to be "off the hook"... It may ruin me for other gigs...
(We may have a spare kicking around for Saturday - if anybody needs one drop me a PM)

Meetup pubs: http://www.urban75.org/brixton/bars/index.html
The Beehive and The Prince Albert sound ok. Prince Albert sounds the best tho :)
THE BEEHIVE 407 Brixton Rd SW9
Garishly lit Wetherspoons pub with hyperactive ashtray cleaners, security cameras tracking your every sip and hideous fake decor - but it's mighty cheap with decent food, a mixed crowd and late licence.
phone 020 7738 3643
PRINCE ALBERT 418 Coldharbour La SW9

DOGSTAR 389 Coldharbour Lane, SW9PHOTO
(Formerly The Atlantic). After an excruciating period where it became the downmarket joint of choice for prowling, pill-popping, lager lads on the pull, a change of management in 2005 briefly transformed the pub into an up and coming venue. It then rapidly slid downhill again, but another refit (early 2007) saw the interior turning into some sort of boudoir which seems to have improved things considerably although this landmark pub continues to fall far short of its potential. (The Dogstar was home to our monthly FREE DJ/Multimedia/Cabaret night, Offline until we moved to the superior JAMM venue.)
Admission is free weekdays (open till 2am) although it costs on weekends (4am close). Expect a thorough but friendly frisking on your way on.
friday night only with 11 mates.
anyone know how we get back (SAFELY-ie reliable taxi firm) from brixton to camden?
is it the prince albert then?

There are a few minicab firm offices in the area. From what I remember there is one very close to the academy on Stockwell Road, just turn right out of the venue and it's about 100m down the road.
Anywhere that has an office is (most probably) legal with proper insurance etc..
Otherwise it'll be a couple of (slow) nightbuses back to Camden!

Sadly I'll be forced to miss out on this. Since my tickets simply hadn't arrived yet yesterday, despite having booked them over 1½ months, I was forced to cancel my travelplans as I've already seen enough of London over the summer & can't really justify the expenses just to see it all again.
Cue one killerset on friday night, now that I won't be there :(

I popped into the pub but i didn't spot anyone obvious and cos it was noisy, i went and read my book in the venue and watched the people. Did people make it to the pub?
Anyway if i pop in tonight, I'll be the guy in in black and shorts
