Hey folks!
Before the forum shuffle, i posted a few tracks in EP form. Well, i've reshaped them and several others into what is fast becoming a finished LP. It's called "Fit For Purpose" by my production alias Mental Health Consumer, and i'm quite happy with how it sounds. But, i need your help! Outside perspectives and your trained ears will help me catch the flaws and any bits that just don't work. Can you give it a listen and comment?

Edit/p.s.: it occurs to me today that people might want to have an idea of what this sounds like before they commit to a download!. I put two of the tracks, "Four Minute Mile" and "Split" up on myspace, here:

:o bump, crash!
Really would appreciate your thoughts and constructive criticisms (like, "don't quit your dayjob" and "Was this produced by blindfolded monkeys?")
Gracias,

Here is my review.
Track 1 - Its a little bit rough for use this track as intro, the samples (HAL's speech) fits with the beat and makes interesting concept.
Track 2 - I really like the parts when the synth comes first and then the beats in the second part of the song. But the quick end of it was not my cup of tea. But overall very deep track, unique athmosphere. Worth listening to it for the second time.
Track 3 - Depressing stuff, anger, must be played loud. Technically done very good, but maybe a little bit monotonous. The second part of the song summarize the track, after it make sence, in this sad story of this song, even if the story does not have sence at all.
Track 4 - Waiting for something, what is moving somewhat fast, but which direction? Very good use of bass in the second part of the song. Outro of this song is not necessary in my honest oppinion.
Track 5 - One of the highlighs of this album, amazing musical skill.
Track 6 - Intro of this song is perfect, but dont go well with the end of last song, for the concept album. (Track 5 required straight beats follow up, beats like track 1 have)
But as for the song, its quite musically arranged. The song as itself is very energical. The end if this song is also great, but when it fade out I would use more echo.
Track 7 - This song is very well technically done.
Track 8 - Here is problem with the beats, its overbassed. The second part of the song is very good. Amaying end of the song.
Track 9 - Great start, worth use it as album intro. I little bit monotonous, but the end of this song is very well done.
Track 10 - One of the highlights of the album. Sad story, but good track. The synths in the second part of the song are perfect. Goes with beats.
Track 11 - Great athmosphere from the start, good use of the beats. The synths are also very well technically done.
Track 12 - Amazing beats, great athmosphere, track to turn your volume right.
I like this album, seems to be concept album, what tells you a story, and the best pieces were in my oppinion 2, 5, 10, 11, 12.

Undarrenworld, thanks so much for your track-by-track review! Glad you enjoyed parts of this, and i really appreciate the feedback. I know i've got some work to do with the EQ and maybe making some tracks more melodic and interesting. But you're spot-on that this is a bit of an exploration of a concept or moods.
Really kind of you to listen and give detailed comments! Thanks!:D

quick bump...i'm remixing these tracks and EQing to give it more depth this weekend, so here's your chance to play engineer/producer and tell me what i should do! (other than "Delete all tracks and stop making music!")

i don't have the tracks here with me to give a track for track note, but some of the vocal samples sounded a little too separate (on some tracks more than others). like the first track (i think i did start with track 1, i forget since i had the playlist on shuffle) the vocal samples were too "on top" and kind of drowned out a bit of the beats was my first impression.
overall it reminds me of skinny puppy/download with some hints of orbital and early underword.
