Hi,

i've lurked round these forums for a long long time, and wanted to give back to the community in some way.
This is a mix i made for a friend at the start of this year, he wanted to know what the deal was with all the new underworld floating around at the time so i put together a bit of a primer from the live shows that were circulating. I couldn't help but include a couple of classics from the same shows so Born Slippy and Pearl's Girl found their way in also. Some tracks have got their pre-Oblivion names, and I chose to keep them because that's what they were at the time. The title of the mix comes from one of the tunes (JAL).
Anyways, tracklist :

underworld - Away From Home

1. All These Things (In Me) . Cocoon Club, Frankfurt, 2006
2. Always Loved a Film (Silver Boots) . Lemonworld, 2006
3. JAL To Tokyo . Cocoon club, Frankfurt, 2006
4. Lenne Penne . Electraglide, Osaka, 2005
5. A Small Conker & A Twix / You Do scribble . Electraglide, Osaka, 2005
6. Globe . Cocoon Club, Frankfurt, 2006
7. Biro the Leggy . Cocoon Club, Frankfurt, 2006
8. Born Slippy . Lemonworld, 2005
9. Billy Goat . Lemonworld, 2005

I usually tend to think that Underworld's best years are the ones shown in that 1992-2002 compaliation, and that OWB while being a good album doesn't really match their fantastic first three. A collection like this, however, shows me they still got it, and it doesn't even have Darc on it!

very good track selection,
i noticed there was a wide and noticeable difference
in some of the transitions though..
you may want to try arranging them in some order
of the bpm's....and also make the transitions longer..

(i'm also doing several live set mixes..
i did one exclusively of the 'cocoon set'..
you might want to check it out under 'post your own music/mixes')

good effort..

In case anyone cares - I ripped the live album cover style and did a little cover for my iTunes (I used the date this was intially posted)... figured I'd throw it here in case anyone else wanted it...

Thanks again, Alex for the original post...

A collection like this, however, shows me they still got it, and it doesn't even have Darc on it!i love those years too, but after reading many interviews and reading about how they write music, i have to disagree. there was talk of stopping drinking and focusing more on projects and goals, which makes sense to me. the lyrics and themes on 100 days off are extremely optimistic and refreshing, whereas born slippy days = drink/dance binging. so for me i am excited to hear all this personal development in the music.

i think the anthology shows what they were, while the new stuff shows what they as artists want to make (which from my understanding wouldn't be drink/drug dance anthems anymore).

nice tracklist mate.
