Wendy's has a new marking angle which uses this font that is incredibly familar to me but I can't put my finger on. Check out http://www.wendys.com/ to see what I'm talking about.

Does anyone know what font it is and/or if it reminds you of anything? I'm thinking specifically about some artist, but I'm not sure. It's driving me a little crazy.

I'm not actually a design major but I like to talk like one. I have this casual obsession with fonts.

Originally I thought it was the same font used by Barbara Kruger ( http://images.google.com/images?q=barbara+kruger&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=com.ubuntu:en-US:official&hs=DB&um=1&sa=X&oi=images&ct=title ) but no - although it does still remind me of her work.

oh no, kruger does futura.
it could be bold italicized futura but i always kept thinking it looked like heavy italcized instead...

a cool site to check out is http://www.underconsideration.com/brandnew/

that's funny... before dubman posted, I was going to say that it looked really familiar, sort of like a bold + italic futura

but then as I was writting that - I started to think "wait... I should go check" which then stopped me, as I realized that as soon as I started on that path - I'd end up getting obsessed by it as well!

Thanks, that was pretty cool. I'm really amazed at Delta ( http://www.underconsideration.com/brandnew/archives/delta_dealt_a_good_hand.php ) MUCH MUCH Better I think.

Reading up about futura, found this rather interesting: http://www.marksimonson.com/article/87/royal-tenenbaums-world-of-futura It's an article about Wes Anderson's love of Futura

it's hard *not* to fall in love with it. i just finished a typography class and we were assigned fonts at random. i got futura and almost wanted to trade with someone who had helvetica because i'm an idiot and stubborn enough to think trying to make helvetica interesting would be a good challenge.
i didn't and i'm glad because we had to do NINE different cover designs using naught but that font EACH WEEK.

futura had a MESS of possibilities. helvetica did not. 90 different cover designs and i didnt get bored of it once.

anyway you can imagine the fun we had when the london olympics logo came out.
the delta revamp is pretty cool, tho i wished it was kerned (spaced) a bit tighter

I have a dirty dirty secret I haven't shared with anyone. While I thought it was the biggest pile of shit at the time, I've started to kind of like the London logo. It's so absurd that they made it, so ballsy that I guess I admire that.

Please don't judge me!
