hello wonderful dirties!

i know all of us here in the states are so completely excited for underworld to be back on this side of the globe, first time since ultra 2003. i'm a long time underworld fan, long time lurker, and new poster... just thought i'd get something started for all of us that are heading to the NYC show.

where do you all think they'll be in central park? ticket prices? how're you getting to the City? where do you plan on staying? just some things to get a thread started.

september can't get here fast enough!

Doesn't look like they know yet about the prices or venue.. probably Summerstage (http://www.summerstage.org/) since it's the most popular one inside the park, but really it could be anywhere. :)

I know there aren't many concerts listed in USA right now, hopefully that changes but if it doesn't, I'll be happy to provide free room/board for anyone who need to make the trek over here to get their UW fix. :)

I'll probably fly into JFK, since flying from Buffalo actually works out cheaper (and faster) than driving. Plan on staying with my old roomate who lives in White Plains, he always loves a good show.
I hope that more dates get added so I can make the usual Underworld
tour pilgrimage to Toronto too.

The rumors are that Underworld is playing the NY Ultra music fest, typically happens around the 2nd weekend in Sept. If so they will be playing Rumsey Playfied in Central Park. Other rumored bands on the line up are Chemical Brothers and Soulwax. There is also a college music fest taking place before ultra.NY this year that they could be part of.

Again just rumors from my google search.

I cannot wait. The first year I'll be home on the east coast in the fall in four years (after four years in Chicago for school) and it couldn't have come at a better time!! NYC is about a 3-4 hour drive from my house, not including traffic, so it's a small trek for UW.

This will be remembered as one of the best summers of my life!! Picking up tix for NYC AND Red Rocks!!

Does anyone have info on when the first single off the new album is due for release? How about the album itself? I'm sure there's probably a different thread devoted to this answer but for some reason it's not popping up for me.

I hope this mini tour of the states will be just as enjoyable the boys as it will be for us yanks!!!

Oh BTW: I put together a promo mix a while back in which I used Biro The Leggy as the opening track. If you want to take a listen I've posted it on my MySpace page.

Aw man - wish I could justify the time (and the money) to do the US thing. I envy all of you (although I will get to see the guys at Knebworth at the end of June, but still....)

As far as I can tell there is no news on a release date for the album yet. No doubt the single(s) will pop up in time for the Ibiza season which usually starts in July.

Hope everyone in the US has as much fun and awesome memories as we in Europe have had over the past coupla years. :)

Edit: BTW - are you the same Jason that made it to Tilburg and ILT in November 2005?

Confession: I signed up for this board when there was a whiff of a whisper of a hint of a rumor that UW might be at Coachella '07. That never materialized, obviously. This did.

Dubnobasswithmyheadman and "Why Why Why" effectively changed my life upon hearing them. While this post effectively makes me a first-time dirt -- well, I have no idea how I'll pay my bills the rest of this month but I will be making the trek from Philadelphia to Central Park to celebrate my 15 years as a UW fan alongside you good people, at a show I never thought I would experience. Cheers!

(Coachella '07 was pretty flippin' awesome anyway, FWIW. And I'm also seeing The Police in July. If I were at the track, this would be my take on "hitting the trifecta.")

Is that so bad? With gates at 4:30PM I'd guess that Holden goes on at 5PM. I would guess he'll play for 2 hours. Is Darren Price playing an opening dj session before the UW performance? I'd guess that it would be near or shortly after sunset when they go on. I'm thinking UW plays for 3 hours and it's over by 10PM. Central Park is a big place; however, people with big $$$ live all around it. I'd further speculate that a noise ordinance will have to kick in sometime by 10PM. Anyone been to an electronic performance in Central Park? A friend of mine saw Carl Craig there a few years back. Not sure when it ended though.

It's not bad at all. Actually, I quite prefer it.

Yes, there's lots of $$$ surrounding the park, but the stage is in the middle and the sound doesn't really make it to 5th or CPW. That being said, shows there usually end around 11.

been to loads of shows at central park, at all the different venues. noise is not a problem at all. you can rarely ever hear anything till you get into the park. late shows usually end around 11ish. the park itself "closes" at midnight. security is totally fine too, especially after a big show. the venue itself is okay, not too big. expect not to be able to see much as it is standing room/general admission. often times there are bleacher seats available. but this show may not have them. also, expect to get dirty - you will literally be dancing in dirt. sometimes if it is really hot, they will try to hose down the crowd as much as they can. but don't rely on it. also, you probably wont be able to bring anything into the venue with you (bags, gear, food, etc.). security checks are tighter than they used to be; you could be frisked at entry. they will probably have some vendors w/ water, sometimes beer. if they get good sponsors, sometimes you might get food, t-shirts, etc. other times amenities can be real spotty. also, if you leave the arena, they may not let you back in.

not for nothing, but sometimes it is best to hang out outside the venue. that way you can stretch out, have all the dance space you want, and hear just as well. better than standing shoulder-to-shoulder, in dead sweaty heat, for seven hours. (but that's probably just my old lady ass talkin'.... ;))

random thought - theres a local - surprisingly cool - manhattan tv channel (ch. 25) that films almost all of the summer stage events and broadcasts them throughout the year. i wonder if this show will be broadcast???

haha. only 10! they are for me, 4 big underworld fans (not on these boards) + their significant others, and one friend who just stumbled onto them this past year. He is going head-first into a live performance... must be nice. :)

lets just all be thankful that the show isnt this week. holy hell its hot in the city today. its gotta be 90degrees already and its only 10am.

It will be so great to finally associate faces with your legendary names!

We'll have to cook up a great banner or suitable dirty garb...

Yup, I just went to Coney Island a few weeks ago. Was pretty fun, Ima miss it. Luckly the Cyclone will still exist after the remodelling. That ride is scary as all hell.

I did the cyclone last year. It really was friggin scary. I road it alone too.

See post #1 for updates on who is going and who is thinking of going (and a blatant abuse of my mod powers. so sue me). If youre going, or have strong intentions then let it be known here! :)

samralh and i are staying with a friend in Brooklin for the weekend, and will be taking the ' tube ' around.
so yeah, this is shaping up to be one hell of a dirty meet.
and the Coney Island thing sounds sweet.
i understand the Central Park gig will shut down at 11 pm ( noise restrictions )...
i do hope we'll be getting a 2 hourish set from the boys.

Squee! Got my tix for 2! Now just need to book the flight/hotel.

Long time DirtyGirl coming out of hiding as well; I remember being a 17-year old brat with a huge dirtymeet sign at the Santa Monica show for Beaucoup Fish back in '99; then seeing them at the Wiltern in LA for AHDO. The only reason I don't have the honor of seeing them at the Hollywood Bowl is because I don't live there.

Much thanks and appreciation to anyone who knows enough about the venue to give us the scoop on what to bring/not bring, as well as the duration of a typical Central Park show and whether we'll be dancing in dirt, etc. I'm actually working out at a gym 3x a week now just so I can get in shape to handle 7 hrs of dancing and sweating when the show comes.

$70 per ticket.

That price is for both the UW show & the afterparty. I was able to purchase the afterparty tix for $24 apiece (with service fee). Tenaglia, Burridge & "Border Community" side room w/ Holden & Fairmont -live (Jake Fairley) sounds good to me.

Anyways, I'm going to Underworld this Friday, its my 3rd time seeing them, last being at Giants Stadium (Field Day Fest) and I am very eagerly looking forward to it!

Also thought if might have been mentioned, as this show is outdoors, it will end by 11 I think as there are noise ordinances and such, so it would still be possible to get trains from Grand Central if you have to leave and go North of the city.

edit: ticketweb site lists times as 6-10 pm.

First time poster...saw Underworld last in Seattle at the Showbox during the Beaucoup Fish tour. Looks like I won't be able to meet a friend of mine in NYC as planned so I'd welcome meeting up with some Dirties. Arriving on the 12th, departing on the 16th. If there is a Dirty meet, I'm down. Will be staying @ Times Square Hilton Garden Inn the entire duration of my trip. Definitely would meet up with some good people if they want to. I have a spare ticket to the afterparty as well should anyone need one but doesn't want to front the service charge. Can't wait!

Hello. I'm really new here, but I've been a fan of Underworld for a few years. The reason I'm posting in this thread is because I have a pair of tickets to see Underworld in NYC, but it turns out that I can't make it; I live in Boston and the timing won't work out (although I now have tickets to the Boston show!).

I'm willing to send the NYC tickets to anyone who wants them. I'd rather someone use them and enjoy it than they end up going to waste. Of course, time is tight, so I'll need a fast response. I'd prefer to send these to people who live somewhere in or near New England, since it will be assured that they will be delivered in time. Once I line up two recepients (or just one, if they want both), I'll send them tomorrow, overnight-style. Of course, I wouldn't mind some form of compensation (especially photos or whatever from the event), but as long as I pass these two tickets on to people who can make good use of them, I'll be happy, even if I get nothing in return.

If you're interested, send me an e-mail: jonirons@gmail.com, preferably with a subject like "Underworld NYC." From there, I'll contact you to get your address or P.O. box or whatever. It goes without saying that this is pretty much first-come/first-served :)

I hope to hear from you guys soon!

Very cool of you to do Jon:cool: I'm sure the person that takes the tickets will compensate you in some way!!

Thanks!

Well, that's taken care of! The first person to show interest never sent word back to me, so I ended up giving the tickets to someone else who e-mailed. Sorry I was rather terse earlier, but I wanted to take care of "business" before I got too caught up in posting here. I was also sort of afraid I got a low response because no one believed me! I guess you hardcore fans have all had your tickets for months now, anyway.

I'm glad I'll get to see Underworld in Boston, at any rate :)

WHERE THE HELL WERE YOU AT THE BAR?!?!?!? I met up with pretty much everyone, but then left at like 5:30 b/c I didn't want to miss James Holden.

aaaanyways... I'm just stopping off at the hotel at the moment (and trying to figure out if I should go to see Digweed or not)

the show was AWESOME

I can't remember the setlist very well... but I do know that they played

Leutin
Dark Train
Crocodile
Beautiful Burnout
Two Months Off
Pearl's Girl
Rez
Cowgirl
Glam Bucket
Rowla
Small Conker and a Twix + Nuxx
King of Snake
Jumbo

so... some definite similarities to the LA show, but with the addition of Dark Train, Rowla, and Pearls Girl - don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty sure there were some new improv's as well

...well this officially ends my absolutely insane week of traveling probably too far for two Underworld shows

actually - just traveling for shows in general... luckily, I've been able to see Daft Punk (finally) and UW (again)

oh - and my sister and I agree -> Karl looked EXACTLY like a muppet tonight. Like, when Kermit the Frog gets really excited, and flails his arms up
