View Full Version : May i dedicate a mix to Fluke

Not sure how many other Fluke fans there are here, but despite how you feel about 'em, comparisons are often made between Fluke and Underworld. i dig 'em because Fluke evolved with the 90's techno styles, from synth-house to trip-hop to big-beat and beyond, and they did it all well.
Their latest reinvention is a band called "2 Bit Pie", basicaly Fluke with some additional producers and another singer. Check them out..their LP arrives on 4 sept.
if you're a Fluke fan or in need of an intro, here's a quick-n-dirty 'tribute' mix:

Fluke
"May i dedicate a little song to you"
tribute mix by AViD
45 MB 48:57
1. FLUKE: "Groovy Feeling" (Thick & Creamy mix)
2. FLUKE: "Bullet"
3. FLUKE: "My Spine"
4. FLUKE: "Tosh" (Gosh mix)
5. 2 BIT PIE: "Nobody Never" (promo)
6. FLUKE: "Electric Guitar" (humbucker)
7. FLUKE: "Amp"
8. FLUKE: "Hang Tough"
9. 2 BIT PIE: "Soto Mundo" (promo)
10. FLUKE: "Twitch" (extended mix)
11. FLUKE: "Absurd"
12. 2 BIT PIE: "Here I Come" (promo)
i can't say it all works, but i was looking for common elements and a progression of styles. The biggest "oops" is the Soto Mundo - Twitch transition...folks have been saying these tracks are similar, and yeah, they are, except that Soto Mundo is about 140 BPM and Twitch is 116 ish. So Twitch had to be sped up considerably to make it into the range of the rest of the tracks, about 130 BPM. Weirder still, Twitch's beatrate fluctuates, so i couldn't use too much of it without running into beatmatch issues.
Anyway, hope you get what you can outta this...i enjoyed just relistening to Fluke records!:D
Cheers,
Holden

Yeah, that's cos negative1 retrieved an old thread...that link expired almost 2 years ago, i'm sure! I've thought of doing another Fluke mix with more 2BitPie and Syntax innit, but haven't found the time:o
Negative1, looks like a great mix...some nice choices of alternate mixes/remixes, too. DLing now. :)

I'll punch out a new one soon. Like i said, that mix is almost 2 years old and had some serious trainwrecks.
Meanwhile, enjoy Negative1's mix, which is really nice!

Wow, thanks! Big fan of "hang 'em high remix", but this is also very nice. Love handclaps and guitar in both versions. Shank em high (i've also seen it listed 'skank em high';)) does seem a product of it's mid 90's times, but heck, i love the energetic techno!
It seems that it's really "Shank 'Em High" (http://www.discogs.com/viewimages?what=R&obid=93156). Thanks negative1 (& thanks again, you & holden, for your Fluke mixes that I keep on listening in the last days...).

yeah, that's what i thought, but unfortunately there's a misprint on
the vinyl : http://www.discogs.com/release/93156
so discogs didn't help..
