Yer the album is one of the better ones i've picked up,only problem is that some of the songs do go on for ever! They even did their album launch up here and put on a free gig which wasn't a bad thing, video for the first single was really good as well.

oh yes! i saw them in May (i think) supporting Doves, and they were pretty great, although not knowing any of their songs made it a bit harder to get into. The album's pretty damned good, although i can appreciate what Dirty0900 said about some of the songs lasting aaaaaaaages. some of them seem to be fairly disparate fragments of songs all stuck together, which can be a little disorienting at times, but when they're good, my god are they good!
funny thing, i thought to myself just the other day "i bet Matt'll like The Magic Numbers. they're just the kind of band i'd expect him to recommend on Dirty"
Just thought I'd give this a try, and yes, this is nice music :) Not particularly my style but hey, I'm open for EVERYTHING. Mornings Eleven is nice :)

for those of you who have the album alone try & download some of their earlier tracks, expecially anime sola and oh sister
and if you do get the chance to see them live then don't miss it - they remind me a bit of underworld on stage - not musically obviously - but just in the fact they're obviously enjoying themselves so much and getting off on the crowd reaction
and if you like the magic numbers you should probably check out irish band hal too - more sun kissed pop harmonies with a strong dose of beach boys influence...

yeah I too saw them supporting the Doves @ ther Manchester Apollo and apart from the first song wasn't impressed at all. bland pop music that just washed over me and left me cold, maybe i missed something and was in the wrong mood, but can honestly say they're one of the worst live bands i've seen, just made no connection with audience at all, everybody was stood around talking not even worrying about what was going on stage.
That said some people camped near us at glasto said they were great in the John Peel tent, but then they also said Coldplay were brillant so I'm taking that with a large truckload of salt:D
if i get chnace i'll listent to the album cos its getting lots of props and i've been wrong about bands before

Did manage to see them in a packed tent... we had to queue to get in....
They were immense. I've got their album now.
Highly recommended and great for a bit of a jig!
Thanks for the tip.

i think they're great, cool songs, cool endless chorus, cool mood. However, I think they aren't playing anything new: like going back some years and listening to some hippie kind of stuff.
anyway I like'em;)

I was another one that saw them supporting Doves (but on the super tiny US tour in March). But I too had no clue about their music and only knew of them since Doves spoke so highly of them. But I was impressed by how happy they were as performers. They seemed quite genuine. I hope I can catch them live again because I really enjoyed their music (the album has a US release date finally, so it seems like they'll make it back here).
