(as taken from this month's clash magazine:)

- If Orbsessions Vol. 1 sells well (big demand), then 'Orbsessions Vol. 2'
will be released, which Alex hopes will be the whole of the original Space
album (with Orb samples left in), which he might go and rework some of the
tracks with Jimmy Cauty.
- Transit Kings album is on the horizon - no release date as yet.
- MadOrb album is in progress (a planned dub set with Mad Professor)
- New Orb album out in 2006 called "Dreamland" (a collaboration with Youth)
- it's going to be an old-school Orb album

all good news, methinks....don't expect the new orb album to be anything at all like "okie dokie..." though.

also, in related klf news, bill drummond has undertaken a new project...."the 17"... http://www.penkiln-burn.com/jobs/job39.html

"a project being peformed in Stockholm and then Newcastle reflects his passion for a move away from recorded music towards live and one off phenomena. This involves inviting people of all musical abilities to join a choir that will sing choral melodies composed by Drummond, leading on to performances at funerals, schools, prisons and weddings. This is all part of Drummond's challenge to our current state of interaction with music, ignited by his concern that all musical genres have an element of 'sameness'."

so now you know!

sounds like a productive period... very cool

but a question about that line where you mentioned "okie dokie" ...was that album not received well? I actually only knew about it by a complete fluke, going on the kompact webpage & downloading it. About a week or so later, I saw it in a shop...there didn't seem to be any promotion for it whatsoever

and when's the release date for orbsessions?

the original space album was going to be the first orb album, created in 1989. it's very ambient. however, alex didn't want the orb to become a klf side-project (the orb consisted of alex paterson and jimmy cauty then), so jimmy cauty left, took the space project with him, and got rid of all of alex p's input. the end result was released in very limited numbers on klf communications in 1990 (i think), and has been bootlegged a stupid number of times...

it's really really good though. reminds me of luciana by juno reactor...also worth checking out.

Good that there are lots of side-projects, compilations and rare old tracks by the Orb. I really like them up through Orblivion, but haven't heard too much since then (keep meaning to pick up Cydonia, etc)...

So if the new record will be "old skool", i'm all for it! Thanks for the updates!

I'm also way behind in my Orb collection. Great to hear I'll be even further behind RSN. :D

Since the Orb site hasn't been updated in a while, I thought I'd piggyback on this thread and see if anyone had heard anything about the Orb playing Los Angeles as part of the Minimalist festival that the LA Philharmonic is doing: http://wdch.laphil.com/minimalism/ (I think the Orb is listed for March 18 for a midnight to 6am thingy). It's hard to tell from the listing, so I'm not sure if it's really the Orb.

no news on orbert then as mentioned in this (http://www.dirty.org/forums/showthread.php?t=419) thread?

ah yea, i do know why that was taken from the compilation.

thrash told lx that he didn't want any stuff from orbert, or any other stuff with thrash on it, released. basically the reasoning behind it was that thrash is pissed off with lx releasing orb stuff from over 10 years ago and cashing in on it. but it doesn't bother me too much, cos there's a really really good quality aiff rip of orbert floating round the net, courtesy of thrash, who stuck it up on his website anyway...

i.e. don't expect any out-takes from orbus terrarum being released any time soon either. which is a pity, cos i have some shitty recordings from dat tapes of them, and they're awesome.
