So a full month between Coachella and Movement...

*fingers crossed that they play somewhere between those locations / dates... Coachella is a total non-starter, but mmmaaaaybe I can swing Detroit.

Just bought my Monday ticket for Movement, so I’m officially going.

Who’ll be there other than lowbit and me? Dubnobasswithme, how about you and your wife? Anybody in touch with Kate who organized the dirtymeet in ‘99?

I can't make this one due to previous travel plans with the family on that weekend. Really hoping that there's a proper US tour once the festival season winds down, though!

Awesome that you've got a ticket

Hope you enjoy your trip and sorry we’ll miss you this time around. Always hoping for a proper US tour (and by ‘proper US tour’ that means the middle in addition to the coasts)! :)

Anyone have an idea how long the set might be. Looking at last year, it seems 60-120mins is the range.

Well, looking at last year's schedule, I noticed that there are no changeover times between the different artists, so I wonder if those time slots are truly as long as the schedule implies, or if the last 15-30 minutes of each one is reserved for changeover.

Anyway, if one hour is the low end of the time slots, then as a headliner, Underworld surely will get at least a 90 minute slot.

Thx makes sense.

It seemed like last year the schedule was more of a suggestion – almost nothing we saw started or ended on time.

What has me nervous is wondering whether Underworld is actually the main headliner for Monday. Or if there's any chance that could possibly be Skrillex.

Just downloaded the Movement app with the schedule. Underworld are scheduled as headliners from 9:30-11:00. 👍

Yup -- schedule is out -- 90 minute festival-closing slot for Underworld!! :D

Also excited to see Caribou headlining the beautiful Waterfront Stage on Sunday, and a two-hour set on Monday from Beige, who was amazing last year. (Probably the highlight of the festival for us.)

If anyone is thinking of going to Movement but doesn't have tickets yet, I just ran across a promo code for $15 off: ENCORE

Another masterful performance. And thank you to Rick and Karl for returning to Detroit after (gasp, has it really been?) 24 years.

I’m trying to recall the set order. I know this is incorrect:

Juanita
Two Months Off
Dark Train
new one? improv? (I’m sorry, I’m not as familiar with the new tracks as I should be. Sounded like a cut-up version of Born Slippy lyrics along with references to animals. Similar beat to Born Slippy.)
Strawberry Hotel? (Fairly sure. Caught the phrase ‘strawberry girl’.)
Cups (the full song, a real treat)
Shudder/King of Snake (Possibly the highlight of the set. Rick subtly edged up the tempo and the crowd went along with it.)
Rez/Cowgirl
And the Colour Red
Born Slippy.NUXX

Hopefully someone with a more precise memory can help!

It’s interesting to see how their performance has evolved. It’s definitely less manic, but the energy is there, just more judiciously applied. (‘King of Snake’ was 1998-99 all over again.) The beauty’s always been there but is now more to the forefront. (‘Cups’ sounded utterly luxurious.)

Nice to see Rick reaching out to the crowd on occasion. He’s more than earned his kudos. And Karl, all smiles and eyes closed, remains the epitome of bliss. I still consider them the most joyful band I’ve seen.

Karl once described the Motown music he grew up with as ‘swift and beautiful’. Last night in the Motor City itself, that was a perfect description of Underworld.

Ooh! A user on Setlist.fm has named the unknown fourth song as ‘Animal Race’ and notes that it was a live debut.

Now who is this user and how do they know this? (jk) :)

I feel better about not being able to place it. Nice to know that UW added an extra little something special.

…aaaaaand, I spoke too soon. :) Seems the user chose ‘Animal Race’ as a tentative title. It’s not official.

Yep, I’m 55 going on 14 and still become a giddy fangirl at times. It happens. <shrug> :D

Yes, that's JPV, from the Netherlands, and while he does go to a lot of UW shows, he's also a known serial fabricator, and I doubt he actually went to this particular show. He often makes stuff up, based on assumptions, and presents it as fact or first-hand knowledge, and that behavior has gotten him edit-banned on setlist.fm before. He also has trouble following the setlist.fm rules. This is a new account he's created to evade the bans. At least he admitted to making up the name for this song this time.

I'm expecting a recording from this show, so we should know soon enough if this is a new, unknown song.

Thanks for the heads up, Bang!

Someone who recorded the show indicated this is the correct setlist:

Juanita 2022
Two Months Off
Dark & Long (Dark Train)
Kittens
Cups
Denver Luna
Shudder / King of Snake
Rez / Cowgirl
And the Colour Red
Born Slippy .NUXX

It concurs with what I remember. How on earth did I overlook ‘Kittens’?

Looking forward to watching this once it hits YouTube!

Oh, and a nice moment during ‘Dark Train’ when the lyrics ‘ride the train’ / ‘to detroit’ flashed on the screen.

Terrific show -- such positive energy! I thought it was possibly going to be a rough experience given how ridiculously tightly people were packed in for Skrillex, but fortunately it thinned out just enough by the time UW came on to allow some dancing.

Speaking of (and packed crowd notwithstanding), Skrillex did put on a heck of a lead-in set IMHO. I'm not a fan, but clearly the man knows his craft really well.

I agree. John Foxx talked him up a few years ago, saying that he was very much in the spirit of punk. I can see that. He varied the beats, kept everything evolving nicely, and interacted well with the crowd. I was pleasantly surprised!
