I almost screamed in the middle of the office.

Not a huge fan of Terminal 5's sound, but I'll take any east coast dates I can get.

IN! Terminal 5 requires you stand in the pack near the stage. anywhere else in that room and the sound is muffled.

How many people have seen shows there? I've heard mixed reviews of the venue, but it seems that the better artists who know what they are doing with their sound seem to have gotten good feedback from fans who went to see them there. Is close to the stage the best place for sound there? I always get nervous with venues that have bad acoustics reviews, but this is Underworld - these guys know how to make any venue sound great in my opinion. I also just read that Terminal 5 upgraded their sound system in November of 2015.

Close to the stage is absolutely the way to go. the room is very long. By the back bar and railing, the sound is just muffled and terrible.

I saw Todd Terje there last summer. Even up front center sounded muffled, not nearly loud enough, and just generally kind of horrible considering how expensive tickets are, how big the venue is, and the quality of artists that play there.

Praying the upgrade made a difference.

I saw the Shins there and the sound was pretty great. Ive seen half-a-dozen shows at T5 and for my money... up front.

Does anyone need an extra ticket? One of my closest friends bought one for me as a gift, but I'm in the middle of a job hunt and can't make the trip from Chicago. (She knew there was a chance I couldn't use it, but because the show is on my birthday, she tried anyway, bless her!) Anyway, it'd be nice to not have it go to waste and recoup at least some of her costs, so if you're interested, please send me a PM.

looking forward to attending the meetup, I've been an Underworld fan for a really long time and have never met anyone from the forums or community. Any easy way to find anyone? Or just describe what we look like the day of?

Hey all,

I was going to go see the boys this Wednesday, but work has put a quick and mighty end to that. I'm happy to see my tickets go to a good Underworld-loving home for face value or slightly less. Fire me a message if you're interested!

What 'potatobroth' said above works great, look for others in band tees... Along time ago, before cell phones , people would wear 'hello, my name is...' name tags, and write 'dirty' on it.

About the spare ticket I'd mentioned earlier: My friend said she would sell it for "$35 or best offer," so if you know of any potential UW converts, this might be a good way to get them started. :) It is an e-ticket so it will be easy to transfer. Please PM me if interested. Thanks!

Ok cool! Unfortunately my custom made Underworld tee took a major beating at the last Ultra Music Fest that they played and it's not up to par for wearing out anymore lol. So I'll be in regular gear. But my wife and brother will be with me, so a party of 3 is pretty easy to spot.

I think there'll be 5 of us together at the start. all in our late 30s early 40s ;) should be there ~5:30-6.

Sounds good, wife and I are in our thirties. My brother is the young gun of our group, he's mid twenties.

Any thoughts on what time they go on tonight? Based on the west coast shows, I'm guessing 9 (doors at 7).

So - that was awesome.

Similar setlist to California, but without Dark Train - I think the rest was intact... the band were, as always, excellent.

Terminal 5 - less so. Had never been - a little cavernous and echo-ey... but still, for me anyway, a great night.

Overall it was great to see the boys on stage doing their thing. I'm well into the teens for times I've seen them live and they really looked like they were having fun.

Terminal 5, with it's newly revamped sound system was decent. It wasn't great. The sound for the opening act sounded crisper than UW.

Almost all album tracks were played as they are on the album with the exception of KoS and Ring Road.

High Points:
1) KoS - This was massive! The crowd was PUMPED for this one. Just awesome from start to finish.
2) Rowla - brilliant as always, but missed that screechy bliss from past shows.
3) Rez/Cowgirl - Rick was in his element yet again.
4) Nuxx - This is what should have followed KoS. Really. KoS took us to a new height and then dumped us into the biggest flat dud of the night, Faxed Invitation.

Low Points:
1) Faxed Invitation. Seriously, this had the crowd as uninterested as possible especially coming after KoS which brought the crowd WAY up. What a killjoy it turned out to be. Should be noted that I love FI on OwB.
2) Dirty Club. Yup, I said it :( - it fell really flat for me. It wasnt the bliss of Dirty Epic nor the fun of Dirty Guitar. It was in-between.
3) Kiteless - this was pretty much exactly as the album, but live it went on forever.
4) Moaner - it should have been the closer, but instead wasn't even in the set. :(

Biggest Surprise for me:
1) Nylon Strung really worked well for me live. Great vibe from it.

Anyone else notice that all the new shows have completely cut out anything from Barking

edit: oh yeah I forgot my review of the show:

I was really excited to hear the new mixes/version of Ring Road and Dirty Club. I completely agree with PotatoBroth on the high points... not so much on the low. I mean they recently talked about in interviews, specifically Karl and his body not wanting to go that crazy anymore. I liked the chill moments... what I found annoying during Faxed Invitation was the crowd not caring and talking loud.

Yes I really wish the boys would introduce REAL improvisation back into the live show.

100% yes. However could there have been a worse placement in the setlist (at least for this crowd?) Faxed Invitation would have worked well as the first song of a 3-song encore. But following KoS was setlist suicide for this crowd. My group of friends was screaming and dancing during KoS and then looking around during Faxed Invitation. I saw more text-message checking during that than pre-show.

No Dark Train or Pearls Girl unfortunately but the show was absolutely incredible (5th time seeing them live). I EXhale and If Rah sounded so much better live than on the album. Low point for me was Ova Nova/Nylon Strung, would have rather had Dark Train there. See you in another 5 years Underworld!

i actually really loved that it was just Rick out there for Rowla (cROWLAne on screen) and Rez. Put him in the spotlight. Rowla is my favorite live track of all time, but it made me realize that I would usually just focus on a dancing strobe-lit Karl. This is the first time I really focused on Rick during it.

Show was amazing, I thought they sounded incredible and the performance was really spot-on. It had been awhile since I'd seen them, and it lived up to every expectation. It was great to hear them in an extended fashion with such a nice long set. It was also super cool to see how happy they looked to be performing, and how many smiles I saw on the faces of people in the crowd as I looked around. I feel like the joy of Underworld is a rare thing that I don't see much in other music acts/audiences.

My setlist thoughts:

I Exhale - sounded way better live than I expected, really felt like it came to life in a concert setting.
If Rah - love this song, so I was excited to hear it. Sounded excellent.
Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream of Love - A thrill to hear the full version, I felt like this is where the show really came alive and felt like the essence of Underworld.
Ova Nova - thought all of the new songs sounded better live than the album, and I love the album
Nylon Strung - This also sounded excellent, although I think I like the more personal experience of this one from listening to the album, as opposed to a show. It moves me more emotionally when I listen by myself. Didn't expect that.
Two Months Off - this thing bangs so hard live, it's such a great song for their show
Eight Ball - really enjoyed this in a live setting, way more than I thought I would. I like the song but was curious if it worked live. It really did, I loved the groove of it.
Jumbo - always great, those synths are just so warm and blissful.
Ring Road - this didn't work that well for me personally, I don't totally understand the inclusion of it in their set. I like the melody of the OWB "Ring Road" much more, and to me, replacing this with something from Barking would have been way better. But I'm nitpicking :)
Push Upstairs - I had never experienced this live before, so I was crazy excited. Really slammed.
King of Snake - WOW. This set the place on fire. I thought I was having a seizure, it was amazing! Karl was out of control on this one.
Faxed Invitation - definitely a strange place for this after KoS, but I like this song alot and was bummed they didn't play the full version. I would have liked to hear that build on the big sound system.
Dirty Club - this was really cool, a great mashup of things and I loved the way the vocal sample cut through the mix. Karl's vocals seemed a bit quiet on this one. Maybe it was T5's acoustics at play.
Low Burn - thought the placement of this was a little off, would have liked to hear it earlier in the set. Sounded great though.
Rowla - Rick was killing this, it was intense. It was really cool to see him just on his own out there tearing it up.
Rez - really enjoyed Rez, I feel like he did some different things with it than I was expecting. Sounded excellent, lights were great.
Cowgirl - a classic, but man it just works so well live. I forgot how awesome it is to hear it live in a room full of hardcore UW fans.
Born Slippy - I also forgot how great this is live. I think as a fellow hardcore UW fan, I always say I'd trade this for something like Moaner, but I can see why this song is such a staple. Really blows the place out at the end.

Bummed they left out "Dark Train", that's one of my favorites. Oh well. Surprised they don't play anything from Barking....perhaps because it was an album with more collaboration and doesn't feel as much like a true Underworld album to them? Not sure, it feels like a part of their catalog to me. I think "Always Loved A Film" or "Scribble" could have worked really well somewhere in the set. But I won't complain, the show was amazing and I'm grateful to have seen them again. Who knows if it will be the last time I get to do so.

Wife got a great photo of Karl, and I grabbed one of the Terminal 5 Underworld posters. Hid it behind some tables and went back for it after the show...it was a little crumpled, but I may scan it and do some photoshop work on it to add some color, etc and make a print of it for my wall.

The best thing about this tour is the total lack of Barking-era material. Its not an album I have yet warmed to. And Scribble is just awful. Which is what they would have played. This tour doesnt have that vibe.

As much as I love Jumbo - I would have swapped it for either Scribble or Always Loved A Film (which, as noted elsewhere, is in my top 10)...

For me, having not seen them since 2009 (their last time in Toronto) - I missed out on anything played from post-09 records. So the new stuff was great, and I would have liked something from Barking as I never got to see any of it live.

All of this aside - this was an amazing show, and I really can't complain... wish I could have seen one of the dubno shows or something, but the chance to catch this on a work trip - pretty amazing all 'round.

It's been done before. During the 2007 OwB tour, there was specifically always a middle sequence when the inflatables would come out for Two Months Off. That would always be followed by an instrumental, such as Spikee, Mo Move, or Rowla, during which Karl would leave the stage and only Rick and Darren would be there performing.
