...and it looks like it could be pretty good! I didn't mind their last remix collection - although it still bugs me that they selected that "UW Hard Mix" of Barrel of a Gun for it, but whatever...
I'm especially excited for the new remixes, honestly.
and these two could be interesting... at least they are in concept
3. Behind The Wheel - Vince Clarke Remix (2011)
5. In Chains - Alan Wilder Remix (2011)
although "In Chains" already sounds a lot like "Higher Love" ...and I have a hunch he'll just turn it into a straight up copy of that track

They are streaming on their Facebook page the Alex Metric Mix of 'Personal Jesus'. I like it.

Definitely looking forward to here Vince Clarke's and Alan Wilder's remix contributions.

There's another new remix streaming on their Facebook page:
Never Let Me Down Again - Eric Prydz Remix.....kind of generic to me, but big sounding.

This is just really a one disc thing - disc 3. all the rest (except 2) are old mixes. Hope theyre decent mixes. must admit the last 81-04 remixes were pretty good in places (rex the dog photographic was grrreat)

I concur. I'm excited about this remix compilation, but all the remixes pre 2009 I already have...
Too bad UW wasn't involved with any of these. My fave DM remix is and will always be Barrel Of A Gun (Underworld Soft Mix) - it's perfection!
Very surprised not to see more Playing the Angel remixes on this. They are some greats ones from Pantha du Prince, Robag Wruhme, Kettel...

Amazon has samples up of this...http://www.amazon.com/Remixes-2-81-11/dp/B005342PCE/ref=tmm_msc_title_0
It's hard to judge the Alan Wilder mix of 'In Chains', but the sample does have a 'Songs of Faith & Devotion' vibe...
The sample of the Vince Clarke mix of 'Behind the Wheel' is great to me. Should be very popular.

I managed to find a download of the "promo sampler" which has some of the new mixes ...
the Vince Clarke one is GREAT. I actually prefer it to the original... somehow it seems - 'darker' I guess
also the remix of "When the Body Speaks" really caught me off guard ... but after a couple of listens, I dig it
I totally will end up buying it for sure... if jsut for the third disc

Leave In Silence (Claro Intellecto Mix) is really good.

Agreed, the VC mix is brilliant. The rest of the promo isnt too bad either. Too bad you have to buy a bunch of old remixes to get them.

I have a couple of these remixes, but most, no. It'll be good to have as I didn't buy the last box either.

14 remixes spread over 3CDs. sad.

yea - that's true... I don't know if I'll actually end up buying it - at least not new (full price)
I'm really surprised by the new remixes, they're all really quite interesting. I mean - even ones I'm not too keen on like the remix of "Freestate" - it's still kind of cool that someone would do a remix of an album track that never was a single (or even played live)

Yeah, that song Ghost was kinda an interesting choice for a remix too.

well - technically - that remix of "Ghost" was available as a download on beatport... but it was exclusive to certain countries (not sure which ones - but definitely neither the US nor the UK)
there was also:
In Chains (Minilogue's Air Remix)
Little Soul (Thomas Fehlmann "Flowing Epos" Mix)
I was able to finally find a (free) download of that version of "In Chains" - but never the fourth mix of "Little Soul"
(I talked about it over on this thread (http://www.borndirty.org/forums/showthread.php?t=17403&highlight=Chains+%28Minilogue%27s+Remix%29)

i do think it's interesting that Wilder and Clarke agreed to "remix" some of these tracks. would be cool to have wilder back in the band.

you see - I really don't "get" why people praise Alan Wilder soooo much
...maybe I just haven't heard his good solo stuff... I downloaded one of his albums - I don't remember the title and it was just kind of "meh"

Sweet Perfection is far from D.ttt.'s swan song, but it is a good example of his contribution to the undeniable sound that is D.ttt.
I mean, think Underworld<Emerson. Uh-oh, sorry if we start beating that horse.

ReCoil doesn't do much for me either, but when he was with DM, i think he really contributed a layer of texture and production that's clearly missing on the more recent stuff.
Listen to his reworking of In Chains. It's so much like a version of the "old DM"

I dunno...
I thought their last couple of albums were quite good... ok - well, I guess "Songs of the Universe" didn't really have any "strong singles" (although "Light" totally should have been one) - which is unique amongst their albums...
and I was just listening to "Ultra" today, and I think I actually prefer that over SOFAD
btw - there seems to be a SECOND Alan Wilder remix of "In Chains" on the US iTunes
(or it's a remix of his remix)
(edit)
CRAP - OF COURSE THEY JUST HAVE TO DO "DIGITAL EXCLUSIVES"
so ... basically impossible to get all the tracks, as some are only available in some countries
iTunes

yeah no kidding, I saw that list about with all the digital exclusive and region exclusive remixes. It's like a damn scavenger hunt. Many of them are put up on YouTube so we can hear what they sound like.
I do like the 'In Chains (Myer vs Wilder Deconstruction' quite a bit.

well, I was able to find most of the exclusive tracks (except for the beatport ones) online through clever googling...
At least the "dub versions" seem to just be straight instrumentals (so not really worth the effort / money in my opinion) but it is crazy that some unique remixes were left off the official cd, which - honestly does seem a bit 'padded out'

cool interview with Martin Gore in Vanity Fair about the Remixes 2 project and the remix culture in general with Depeche Mode's songs.
