Streaming the tracks now... sounds great!
SoundClick makes you register, however, for downloads, and they've not sent me an activation code yet.

btw. I'd take a look at your website 'cause the paypal "pay" button for your new album opens the payment page back in the same window in your site, and it seems like that makes the paypal not work properly. At least it's impossible for me to pay :/
*edit
it seems to work with Firefox, but not with IE...
anyway, bought it now! Hope it doesn''t take quite as long in the mail as the last one (took a couple of weeks to cross the channel!)

hmm, it might be worth getting rid of the button and just replacing it with a normal htlm link that opens with a bit of 'blank' code so it opens up with another window.
Cheers for the tip, the CD will get off to you today!

Liking what i heard from the previews...and yes, "Big Daddy" rocks! Do the kids go nuts for this on the dancefloor? i can see pandemonium...follow it with "Firestarter" in a DJ set and they'll have to bring in oxygen...
Thanks for all the free music, too! it's about time for me to go and buy In/Out!

Big Daddy is getting a lot of praise. Our live set sort of chops and changes as it goes along, getting progressively faster and a bit tougher as we go along. We're certainly not a hard dance act by any stretch of the imagination but when we finish on Big Daddy people go absolutely bonkers. In fact, WE go bonkers, thats what makes music so fun, this is us giving it a debut back in September...it all went a little silly.

we really should get a few mixes of it together and go get some vinyl done!

received the cd two days ago. Have given it a few listens and I like it so far, especially the "out" part :)
Will get back to you with a more in-detail review.
I can at least say that the overall production quality seems to have been taken up a few notches. It's getting into Way Out West territory at some points with all the little noises and stuff going on. :)

yeah, the production has kicked up a gear...stuff like Headcharge and The Gate are finally getting the state musically where I want us to be.
Now we have to adapt all the stuff from the album versions into to do them live...more work for me !

well, I cant say the Sheffield gig was a complete success, halfway through our set a bloke got glassed THEN stabbed. Errr...the place then emptied somewhat (as you'd imagine). Luckily, the bloke was alright though, we were even chatting to him at the end of the night...he was tough as old boots :)

Sorry, I'm a bit new to the Emmet sound, but I quite like it...(well, at least what I hear of the soundbytes)...
You guys ever play in London?
And is that the same Ant that runs the UW live site?
Emmet
01-08-2006, 04:31 AM
hullo Cadevil. Ta for checking us out, there's a few albums of older stuff for you to download and digest at the website.;)
We've not played London..yet...and thats because only noone has invited us down to play. :(
Alas, our Ant doesn't run the UW Live site, it must be another one.

Yes, its that time again whereby people get to listen to lots of Emmet related stuff that we haven't had to knock out ourselves..its Version 2.0
Its a 6 track EP (or does that count as an album I dunno) featuring top remixes of Emmet tracks by our very talented mates (in no particular order)
Max Hall
OG
Disko Ticklerz
Plasmastorm
Anigman
Ian Round

Seeing as we currently have a shortage of webspace, the download link is courtesy of one of those file upload/download sites, you have to wait 45 seconds before you can access it but it all seems to work OK.

btw I wanted to ask, what do you feel were the main advancements you made technically speaking to get the production to this level?
I feel I'm kinda stuck with the quality of my mixes, especially when trying to use more than a couple of sounds at once and getting the beats to kick properly, but I need some better monitors as well.
also, how is your football anthem coming along? Are you on the verge of commercial breaktrough? :)

Well the remixes are all done by our mates but in terms of what we're doing at the moment a lot of it is down to 'experience', I've been concentrating properly on the music side of things for about ten years now and experience does seem to make my/our stuff sound better.
A lot of dance/electronica can be quite sparse in terms of arrangement and what you tend to find is that the less cluttered the mix is the more the individual elements can stand out Benni Banassi and Satisfaction or Kernkraft/Zombie Nation being the first tune that springs to mind. Alas, I tend to go for the wall of sound/throw everything and the kitch sink in there which makes things a right bugger to mix at times.
As for moniitors, as long as you know what they're putting out your fine, I dont use studio monitors just a decent set of Celestion hi-fii speakers, I've had them 16 years and I know what thngs sound like on them so they do me fine.
Make use your individual elements are properly EQed so that each part is 'shelved' and sits in its own frequency range; i.e. bass part = low freq..if you've got a string/pad part roll off the low end on it so it doesn't clash with your bass. If that sort of makes sense :p
As for the football; its 'out there' showing on 3 TV stations at the moment, someone somewhere is trying to have a word with Vodaphone regarding ringtones and the like..that would be good ;)

oops, yeah I was talking about your album actually not the remixes. Forgot to quote the proper post...

Agreed, experience is of course the key. My mixes now sound much better than when i started out some 7 years ago. I don't really spend enough time making music at the moment so progress is slower. I am using more eq now, especially the shelving you mention. Pretty much all sounds except the bass get the bottom end rolled of which definitely helps the clarity of the mix.

and a bit of mastering always helps too. We use a multiband compressor which beefs the bottom end and adds that 'shine' on anything above 10K.

excellent...who voted us that?
The track is supposed to be terrible, I think people are missing out on the post-modern, ironic stance of our intentionally bad record.

didn't you also get to mix some of your tracks on a big expensive analogue console at some point?
Thought I read that somewhere on your site a while back.

Nice twists. The plasmastorm is a bit banging, but I like the headcharge, trubble and opinicus mixes the best. lots of layers and meloidies for the brain to digest. I dont know why I bother to reply on the loopz forum. Its dead. 35 views and no replies. You'd think you guys were trying to peddle Viagra or Rolex knock-offs or something.

been fiddling whilst trying to get stuff together for the next CD.
Its very commerical (poss bordering on cheese I dunno) electro house remix of a recent top 4 hit by the popular beat combo Muse.
I've snuck it onto Multiply which people use if they want to upload dodgy stuff that can easily get deleted :D
