is it too soon to say that this can be the best movie of 2005?

its sam mendes' third film..but it will be his first without Conrad Hall as DP. so dont expect the shots to be beautifully shot..but a gulf war drama always sounds good to me.

its the only thing im looking forward to this winter..

Not to say that Conrad Hall was overrated, but Roger Deakins who is the DP on Jarhead is a pretty fantastic cinematographer in his own right. Just look at his long term relationship with the Coen Brothers.

I see the preview for this before Lord of War comes on, heres what im thinking:

"Oh, Jake Gyllenhaal in another teen movie, great. [then the FROM THE ACADEMY AWARD WINNING DIRECTOR OF AMERICAN BEAUTY] When i see this, i seriously jumped out of my seat with excitement and almost crapped my pants."

Not only is American Beauty one of my 3 faviorite films of all time, but its a movie that showed me that there are people in the world who think like me!
This is on my must see on opening day movie.
